Cam Newton was a "different guy" heading into 2012 per Ross Tucker (called out his work ethic)

From the OP

"Tucker credits outgoing OC Rob Chudzinski with turning Newton around after his work ethic and commitment were spotty at the beginning of the season. "I think he did a fantastic job with Cam Newton last year, and even helping him recover this year," Tucker said of Chudzinski. "I had heard, even in training camp, that Cam Newton was a different guy from a work ethic standpoint. "

I'm not an apologist that thinks Cam can do no wrong, but if you don't think that this isn't a rip on Cam, then I don't think you read it.

The timing of the story is just strange. Cam has work ethic issues that Chud fixed and the media sat on this story until Chud leaves? It just seems weird to me.

The media didn't sit on any story. Chid was hired, a reporter went looking for a quote on Chud, and got one from this guy. He mentioned that Chud helped improve his work ethic. What's wrong with that? Everyone isn't out to get Cam. Chill. It's just a quote about Chud being respectable and helpful in Cam's development.

Questioning a players work ethic and commitment based on some unknown source is no big deal?

When the offense sputtered, it was all Cam's fault. When the offense became top 10, it was all Chud magic. DUH

I honestly think it was a bit of both.I think our lack of offensive production was on both Cam and Chud in the beginning of the year but I disagree that it was Cams work ethic.

Yeah, the media doesn't have Cam pegged as the next VY at all. Nope, not at all.

And, Cam has been victim to all these "unnamed sources" saying alot about him and his family sinces his days at Auburn, so it's no surprise when they keep coming out at will saying exactly what folks in the media want them to say about Cam.

The guy said Chud helped him with his work ethic. Y'all have some salt in your vaginas..

Funny how no one has ever questioned The Golden Calf of Bristol's or any of the other media chosen QB's work ethics.

Let's stop being so gullible. Cam is automatically being scapegoated as a lazy QB who doesn't have good work ethics and is immature. That is the mold those in the media have painted of him since his draft days without an ounce of proof but their 'Unnamed sources."

How coincedental that Chud would get full credit for Cam's work ethics and not Cam himself. The blantant stereteotyping continues. It's sad that whomever have to play the media's game by trying to take credit for Cam's work ethics to Chud as if, you know, he's nothing but a "lazy man" with Chud, the coach pushing him. Yeah, let's continue pushing the media perception of Cam, just to make Chud look good.

I now see why it's so easy for the media to always throw Cam under the bus. Some of you seriously believe that that the QB and coaches are to blame when the team fail. It's no wonder the media is more than happy to continue feeding this BS while other teams get that a team failure rest on everyone's shoulder.

Here is the thing football how is it that in the career of every black QBs career the old questionable work ethic bull poo gets thrown around. Same with unable to read a defense.

The VY comparison was always rediculous to me.

I'm in Nashville, TN, and I can tell you, Cam is nothing like VY. VY was weak-minded, one thing Cam Newton is not. Immature at times, maybe, but weak-minded he is not. Cam is handling all of this very well, IMO. VY would have crumbled by now.

VY was big strong and talented, yes, but not nearly as talented as Cam, clearly. It became clear very early, that VY had a hard time reading defenses, something he could have worked on, but he was also notoriously lazy, and stayed missing meetings for BS reasons. How do I know? because local media couldnt stop talking abou it.

So yeah, If Cam had a "work ethic" issue, believe me, the media would have been ALL over it, we wouldnt have heard the end of it.

Cam's play, though not perfect, suggests that he is working very hard to get where he needs to be. You cannot do what he did these past 2 seasons with just adrenaline and natural ability (that's what ESPN would have you believe). There were many instances of quarterbacking brilliance, and there will be more to come.

Sorry for the rant, I just really, really, hate that comparison.
