This was Chud's last Panther year regardless.

Chud was not going to be a member of the Carolina Panthers after 2013 anyways.

We suck, he is gone with everyone else.

We're good, he is almost certainly gone to be a HC somewhere.

Timing. is. everything.

Question is this...

If we don't drag our feet with hiring Gettleman, and JR doesn't give Rivera a promise of one more year.

Does Gettleman keep Rivera a week or two ago, if he knows Chud/Norv are gone?

Do we just clean house now, to avoid the potential of Cam have 3 OC's in 3 years?

Heard that on the radio this am. I don't think we necessarily dragged our feet hiring a gm. For our top two candidates we had to wait until the season was over before we could ask permission to speak with them. Maybe JR could have cut his vacation short I guess might have sped things up a little.

Keeping Rivera has nothing to do with Chud or Norv leaving. After last year and with the number of vacancies out there, it was predictable that Chud would get a HC job. Unlike people here, elsewhere he is held in high esteem. So losing him was surely a possibility. Secondly, Norv maybe a good proponent of the Coryell system but he is hardly the best offensive mind out there and as a head coach isn't exactly stellar. He has the same history as Rivera when it comes to having to pull off late season finishes to save his bacon.

Truth is that depending on the relationship between Shula and Newton, he might be a good guy to promote. Then make Scott Turner the QB coach. It would keep the continuity and I suspect we would be fine.

Then again I would be fine with many of the guys named as possibilities. What I do know is that Newton is bright enough to flourish in other systems and we have the personnel to be successful. I do hope we continue using a coryell system and make use of tight ends given that really does play to our strengths. And of course emphasize the running game more.
