I don't know why more people aren't understanding this, either because they refuse to or just ignorant to it, but the day of the "franchise running back" is dead, and today more teams are making the playoffs (and more consistently, I might add) by virtue of a star QB than by virtue of their franchise running back. A committee of players with different skill sets that don't cost so much is really all you need to have a solid running game, which is really all you need to win a championship when looking at the bigger picture.

Charles Godfrey is not nearly as bad as this message board makes him out to be. I'm not saying he is an all-pro, but he has consistently improved.

Deangelo Williams isn't nearly as big of a waste of money as people think.

Not sure if unpopular- We missed Shockey this year.

We need to draft a receiver soon. Smith had a lot of uncharacteristic drops this year.

Jon Beason is not done, he will come back strong next year

Ryan Kalil isn't near as good as people think. He's great at calling protections and decent in run blocking, but he's physically limited in pass blocking.

Rivera could easily become the most successful coach this franchise has ever had.

Although bull headed and goes in full retard on 3rd and short ...is our best most creative Offensive coordinator we ever had!! He just needs a guy to slap him from time to time.

The blind devotion to have clean cut players is why the Panthers are so passive at the start of seasons.

Charles Johnson is underpaid for what he does each week. (or well worth every penny)

The contract extentions to Beason, CJ, Kalil, James Anderson, Deangelo were the right moves at the time they needed to be made bc losing any of them would have been more devastating short term...my hindsight opinion is different on DeAngelo and Anderson.

I think Steve Smith, although produces at an elite number 1 level should have been a number 2 WR(or 1B) for the last 5 years..overdue.

Dewayne Jarrett was the right pick at the time...he just was an underacheiving, drank dependant let down.

Gross didn't play as bad as some people think.

The dislike for Ron Rivera, I think he just inherited one of the worse team in the league and made them competitive.

Wanting to draft a DT or safety with the 1st or 2nd picks, Rather go WR or OG with the 1st two picks BPA...

Wanting Bill Cowher or Gruden as a HC.

Ron Rivera has the right idea and is a good coach, but is struggling to learn how to be a head coach.

Steve Smith's passion can at times be a really bad thing for team chemistry.

Jon Beason is expendable and probably should get cut or traded.

D-Will is our best RB and should stay instead of Stewart

Greg Olsen is a borderline terrible blocker for a tight end.

The read option is a good thing and was not the issue with the offense or the run game struggling.

I agree with every statement. Godfrey makes plays but he has a FEW weekly mental errors that never seem to improve but then makes a few extraordinary plays...so he gives and takes for the team..
