Clausen's skill set would actually fit Gruden's offense better than Newton's would.

WCO would be a lousy fit for Newton.

gruden has abandoned the WCO. he's a chip kelly disciple/student now.

You didnt witness Newtons frustration with the play calls in the first half plus of this past season? I did - rivera and Chud stifled Newton - Newton could have been much better with adequate coaching - matter of fact a lot of folks on here were questioning the coaching he was getting from shula as I recall and talking about how he has regressed this year.

Gruden is sooooo over-rated imo- just like Cowher. If it becomes time to fire Rivera at some point down the road, I hope we get some fresh, hungry, and innovative blood.

The news here isn't the possibility of having Gruden as the coach. I am ambivalent if not antagonistic to that idea.

The news here is that a lot of coaches are eyeing Carolina like a hawk, because they know this is a place where wins could be coming in bunches. This is a desirable job.

Gruden has always had a hard-on for Carolina. Wouldn't surprise me if this rumor was bupkis, though.

We'll see how it goes next season. If Rivera falters, it will be interesting to see how many head coaching possibilities this year were holding their cards for us.

Technically there is no true answer to that question because both B and E are correct....you would need an "F" for this question or all of your students would bitch and moan on review day! I mean I guess you could argue you said most correct, but really the label "hate ostrich" is subjective and therefore may not be counted as fact....

Gruden's resume' is built primarily on one Super Bowl (won on the backs of Tony Dungy and Monte Kiffin).

In the six years that followed...

- only three winning seasons (two of those being 9-7)

- an overall win-loss record of 45-51

- only two playoff appearances, one and done both times

- a revolving door at the quarterback position

- players who hated him so much they told ownership they refused to play for him

What about that record says to you "I should hand total control of my franchise over to this guy"?

But hey, he sounds cool on Monday Night Football and Gruden's QB Camp :unsure:

Gruden is probably the most overhyped option of the former head coaches out there. People love his persona, but 'persona' is why Woody Johnson loves Rex Ryan. Fun as it may be to watch, it doesn't win games.

Defenders always say "it'll be different this time". I'd ask this: Do you really have enough confidence in that statement to give him complete control of the franchise?

He may someday get his shot to prove himself again, but if he does I hope it's somewhere else.

I'm a fan of Gruden and think he would and will be a great HC once again.

He is not going to be the same coach he was at Oak and Tam ....he wil be much better
