Last time we picked 14th

Thomas Davis was a "safety" in name only, both at UGA and his rookie season. He basically played the "joker" position. He was a hybrid safety/LB, but more LB than safety.

TD could've played safety 20 years ago when you could drop down and play in the box most of the time and just head hunt in coverage, but he can't play safety in today's NFL. The way he'd have to play safety is basically outlawed in today's league.

I wouldn't hand out your nuts just yet. Remember when people were talking up Nick Fairly for the number one pick and he kept dropping eventually to 10. Or Aaron Rodgers dropping...I'm not saying it's a bad thing if it happens there's just no need to lose a nut over it.

Fairly dropped bc he was clearly considered a knuckle head and for Rodgers, it was a draft that not many teams needed a QB other than SF. It was between Alex and Rodgers. Even GB didn't need Rodgers. It was a sexy pick.

And who are you talking about droppin?

Totally agree.

This such a weird request to have TD move to saftey with DB requiring more stress on his knees.

TD is still a huge injury risk..and why would the Panthers want to move him away from the position he excells at. Also it took him two seasons to bulk up to play lber.

I am more on the Safety bandwagon than a CB. Not sure if anyone is projected to be a Top 15 pick at that position though.

Nope there aren't. There's a handful of potential starters in the 2nd to 4th round, though.

I'm almost 100% certain we will take a offensive linemen with our first rounder.

davis was probably the most fundemental tackler coming out of the draft that year...top 2 or 3 anyways, i loved the pick. in years past (when minter retired), i kinda hoped we could move him back to saftey (i always did on madden, so it had to work in real life :s ), but i definately think he's past the point in his career to transition back to saftey....completely agree that he could/should play S in run situations though. in a way, we are lucky to have so many holes to fill, we will be in a position to take the BPA because the odds are it will be a position of need. considering the recent run of freakish D'linemen (suh, watt...clowney next year), i think warmack makes the most sense if he is the BPA....cam looks so much more sexy without blood and grass stains all over his uniform (even though i dig the gritty look, stains mean he's been hitting the ground...noted that alot of the grass stains are from sliding). we really should focus on building a o-line full of studs to protect our future GOAT, even if it means spending the 14th pick on a guard...its not a sexy move for most, but sure as hell is a smart one...im all about the protecting the swagg, so that would be a sexy pick for me!!!

TD is doing great,. I am surprised the "back to safety" debate has not come up before now though.. maybe I missed it..

drop some weight, not as many tackles in the trenches.. more open field..

I don't know. I say don't mess with what works and TD put in serious WORK this season at LB
