darin gantt "Panthers keep finding scapegoats, bigger problem remains"

Honestly, what decisions has the franchise made recently that he should be applauding them for?

I know it's been a rough season, even with the late win streak, but firing Hurney was the right move. Hiring a consultant to assist with the GM search was a good move. I know its old, but Morrison seems like a solid president - guy is always out and about shaking hands. What about how the big cat handled the situation with Greg Olsen's baby?

I can't recall a time when Gant praises any of our players (I know there have not been many worth it for the past three seasons) but guys like DeAngelo, Tolbert, Johnson, Hardy, Godfrey, LaFell - you never hear anything about them. However, when the Panthers do anything where you can make it look like a foolish move, he jumps on it. He was critical when rivera fired the special teams coach - and as I recall, special teams play did improve towards the end of the season. It seems like he is just bitter towards the Panthers and looks for the negative over the positive. I'll still follow him, he's good at what he does. This shtick is just getting old.

he is a prick and i've had my share of arguments with him over the years, but i can't argue with the write up. he made a lot of good points and brought up a lot of good questions that i don't know the panthers have a good counter to.

I respect your opinion... I didn't like the releasing of any of the position coaches I feel if any position coach needs to be fired it should be the O-Line. I especially don't like that we won't look at Jim Skipper for our RB coach, Double Trouble ran their best while he was here smh....

I can't wait to see the meltdown on here when the new GM cuts or trades a few fan favorites. I don't want it to happen either, but I've already prepared for it.

I honestly won't be shocked if Beason, Gamble and Williams are all not a part of this team next season.

I hope not because they are 3 of my favorites (especially Beason), but it wouldn't shock me at all if it happens.

I think we can get away with just Williams and Gamble leaving.

In the past I enjoyed Gantt, but lately he has become ridiculously critical (almost bitter) with his tweets and stories. No matter what the Panthers do, they are wrong. The stance is getting tired. Its like when he started working for pro football talk he wanted to focus on ragging on the Panthers.

I'd pie you a hundred more times if I could. Spot on.

Gantt was decent on twitter regarding the Panthers after he was gone as beat writer. Now since he's started at PFT, he only writes articles slamming Carolina. If I see a Carolina related title on the PFT homepage, I don't even need to click it to know it was written by DG and its bashing Carolina.

Williams, Beason, Gamble.....and possibly another LB.

Fans will be outraged bc they don't see how it helps. Hurney screwed us for seasonS. We have to be more worried about being in good shape for 2014 and 2015 than 2013 IMO.

How bout I just pie you?

I feel like the only local media guy I've liked lately is Tom Sorenson. I know Joe Person is late on everything and kind of sleazy, but I find my self enjoying his stuff a little more than Darins. Maybe it is just personal preference.

somebody for the Charlotte Observer said that when he asked Smitty should Rivera come back all he did was smiled. but Fred being gone could cause him to go ape poo.

Smith spoke pretty clearly in favor of Rivera staying a short time ago.

Not sure how he'll feel about this, but in the past he's been a "it's just business" guy (like when Muhammad and Delhomme were let go).

    • When the Panthers start making great decisions that turn into great moves they will begin to get the benefit of the doubt on certain things. Until then this is the norm. Just labeling any and all skepticism as hate is silly. Welcome to the real world.
    • Man a safety early round one is tough. I really like Nick Emmanouri but at 18, not at 8. Guy is a freak.
    • I haven't bothered to look into it for 2 reasons, but I'm not so sure his contract would be bonkers for a team that trades for him.  Because the new team doesn't pick up the signing bonus portion or the cap hits that come from that, so depending how SF structured the deal, there is always a chance that it's actually not a bad contract for a team to trade for. But the two reasons that doesn't matter is because if SF is actually willing to trade him, to me, that screams they're concerned about his recovery from the injury and would make me not want him based on that alone.  And the second is that if his injury recovery is fine, then in the end, they're not going to trade him anyways, so it's all moot to begin with.
