Question about Internet Cards...

if most laptops have internal internet cards, why are companies selling their own internet cards? Is it cause they have more coverage of the internet than what most cities and/or buildings or other structures provide?

What do you mean "internet cards"? Do you mean wireless LAN cards? Or WWAN (internet over the 3G phone network)?

The ones phone companies are selling are the ones that let you tap into their wireless networks. So you can have internet away from a router. The ones built into your laptop are like wireless N and G and the obsolete B and A. Whereas, Those cards(the ones companies are selling) allow you to connect to their network via their phone coverage rather than your home router.
