If You Think Chud Sucks Now...

Im saying lets not act like we wouldn't be in the superbowl in 05 if it wasn't for deshaun and stephen getting hurt

I dont think Fox call the plays on the offense end. We had a run game, somehow it was abandoned for no reason

er, we wouldn't have went to the superbowl in 2005 because the Seahawks were simply better, and it didn't start and end with our problems with RB depth at that point in the year

If we had davis and foster, we was going to the SB period

We didnt have Kris either... we damn sure was going to the SB with him

i think you forget getting raped by fitz and warner that game.

we got lit up on both sides of the game and fox made no adjustments whatsoever until it was way too late. said that they expected the cards to play the same way they did when they beat them earlier in the year. made no changes in the game plan. saw no need. fox and the team were caught with their pants down.

Dude he's talking about the NFC Championship Game in 05 vs the Seahawks. We had just knocked the hell out of the Bears but Foster got injured in the 2nd half after killing it in the playoffs. We showed up to Seattle with our 3rd string back(Goings got hurt so I think we were down to Robertson), No Moose(thank you Hurney!), and playing in Seattle. We had no other threats and Seattle knew it. Just blanketed Smith and dared Colbert, Carter, and Mangum to beat them. It wasn't a masterful coaching job by Holmgren, anyone would have made that gameplan. They also went on to lose the most boring Superbowl in history to the Steelers. If we had made it to the Steelers(with Foster) I think we very well could have won it because Ben was awful.

Foster wasn't doing great against the Bears defense in that game, he had about 3.4 ypc by the time he went out. Our success against Chicago was mostly due to their secondary not being able to shut out Smith.

But everybody seems to attribute our playoff run solely to Foster. Having him against Seattle wouldn't have been nearly enough to play competitively.

Everyone thought Chud was the shiznit till this season, there were topics last offseason about how it would be very bad for us if we were to lose him, now the general consciences is that he should go.

my question is why? why do you think he should be fired?

Personally I see this as nothing more then the typical "OMG Cam Newton Didn't Complete his pass firce the OC right now" overreactions from fans that I have seen on here every single season since Joining this forum in '05 much of which also comming from the usual suspects.

Honestly I believe while he has not done as good of a job overall as last year, but I still believe he has done a good job, my two complaints with him are that he did not involve the RB's earlier and considering how bad our O-line was playing earlier I can't exactly blame him for fully for that, and his play calling was way too gimmicky over before the bye week which he did change.

I think right now Chud over the first two seasons has done a fine job, and he's not the reason't we haven't been to the playoffs the last two years. Offense has done it's Job IMHO it's the Defense that needs to get their crap together and be that force to reckon with tht we all hope they will become and have the talent to be(outside of the DB's of course).

the reason why foster going down was huge was because he was a legit at the time starting #1 RB on the team making the opposing defense at least have to gameplan for him, we lost him and then on the first series lost Goings, the Panthers lost their ability to use their play action pass which our entire offense scheme was predicated on, basically meaning without a running game we didn't have a offense.

that's why it was huge when Foster went down, and no he might not of been the sole reason for the playoff run, but he played a bigger role in the offense then a lot of joe shmo fans would realize.

I've always hated the fact that we succumbed to injuries in the playoff run, I seriously believe to this day had we been healthy we would have won the Super Bowl that year. Because our defense was just as good as the steelers and our offense was better imo. but we just got bad luck and sometimes that happens.

Play action didn't matter because our only receiving threat was Smith and he was being quadruple covered

Even if we had Foster what were we going to throw to him to the tune of 30 points? Colbert was hobbling the entire year and he wasn't that good to begin with, Mangum was barely serviceable as a receiving threat, and Ricky Proehl was more clutch than move the chains.

Foster played a big role in the offense at that time because it lacked playmakers. Losing him hurt, but that offense wasn't very talented to begin with. We would've gotten beaten anyway.
