Questions about Marc Ross

In fairness, he did go to that bowl game a couple of weeks ago.

that is why i just cannot understand how, or why this team would put him into this position.it makes 0 sense.

I don't know that they are.

So far all we've really seen is media speculation. The fact that they're bringing in at least four, and possibly six (if you count John Dorsey and Jim Popp) candidates to interview doesn't exactly speak well for his chances.

It might just be me, but wouldnt the best canidate for gm come from a winning team?

and why would you even think about promoting from within an organization that has only had 3 winning seasons in the last 12 years and no winning seasons in the last 4 years?

Someone with better understanding of how Front Offices work I have a question.

Would it be to far off to believe that if you get a GM without being a "Cap Guy" we simply go out and find a great "Cap Guy" to go along with the GM? Maybe that is not how it works but seems like would be a good idea. If that is true, who are the best "Cap Guys" out there that would not be a GM and welling to work for the GM candidates we have heard of so far?

Yeah, I don't think we have a realistic shot at Dorsey. Doubt I'll even profile him unless that changes.

Gettleman is still my first choice based on experience, but I'd definitely be happy with Ross.

Whomever winds up as GM, it's vital that we get a good cap guy in to work with them. Our current crop of candidates is all guys with little to no experience at managing the cap.

Given the draft history of Ross, what exactly makes you be 'definitely happy' with him?

As fuged up as this sounds, the more negativity I hear about Ross the more I'm starting to think the GM job is going to come down to him and Beane with him winning the job. I'd be perfectly fine with either of them to be honest.

You'd be fine with Beane?

I'd be fine with anybody they hire. If they called up Peewee Herman and gave him the job I'd be fine with it. I have no control over the situation, and I love the Panthers. So the way I see it I have to choices. I can either follow the team I've loved all of it's life or find something else to do. I've never willingly missed a game, and regardless of who manages, coaches, or plays for this team I don't plan on doing so anytime soon. No matter how bad things get. Unless of course the move the team like they did the Hornets. Then they're dead to me.

While the cap may seem complicated to us non-professionals, it is much more difficult to find a good talent evaluator than a good cap guy. The ideal candidate might be someone that had both a legal and financial background. We actually already have someone on staff for that (Rodgers). He is probably fine. I doubt he bears the blame for our cap problems, as he just did what JR/Hurney told him to do.

Were I JR, the lack of cap experience wouldn't prevent me from hiring a good evaluator as GM.

are you agreeing or disputing, cant tell

agreeing 100000000%

change of culture is needed. fresh blood is needed and it needs to be an infusion from a more successful source than our own.

i do not want beane. i want someone that has been a part of an organization that knows how to excel and it should be someone with relevant experience and played a significant role in building or at least maintaining that winning organization. none of that is beane.
