Keep Anderson - Clausen can go fug himself

No kidding. One is competent and the other isn't, you want the wrong guy gone.

I'd like to see Gross restructured. That would help us a ton with the cap.

Cut Gamble, if we can keep Munnerlyn at NB I'm fine with the Josh's at CB, could also address in April.

I'd keep Ron Edwards for a better price. He's effective when healthy, which isn't often enough.

I say cut DeAngelo and Gamble. But damn, cutting Gamble opens up another huge hole. I was thinking are CBs w/ Gamble could be just good enough to get us to the playoffs with our other pieces. Without, not so much. You cut Gamble you have to take a CB in round 1 or 2. Still think its worth it in the end.

You guys are irrational with your Clausen hate. The bottom line is he holds a clip board at a reasonable price. Sure we can cut him but we have to replace him at a lower cap figure. Not easy to do. Clausen hasn't cost us a game since 2010. Get over it. Ryan Kalil isn't a bum but his cap figure jumps from 5m-->10m in March and that is a hard reality to swallow for the rest of his contract. If he's not the best Center in the league we have a problem there.

Clausen hasn't cost us a game since 2010. Get over it. Ryan Kalil isn't a bum but his cap figure jumps from 5m-->10m in March and that is a hard reality to swallow for the rest of his contract. If he's not the best Center in the league we have a problem there.

We have a QB that plays the game VERY physically....

We need to be grooming a young QB bc of that....therefore Clausen's spot has meaning and he wastes it.

Kalil's number isn't bad for being one of the top lineman in the NFL. You spend money there.....

Our issue isn't Kalil or Johnson getting paid. it is the RBs and LBs and guys like Godfrey (7.1 million in 2014 and 2015)

Yeah I agree with that. I would draft or bring in an undrafted guy to groom as Cam's backup but we haven't found that guy yet. I am of the opinion NOCAM= NOHOPE so the backup is irrelevant. I don't think a running QB that can't pass is the answer. We saw that with Joe Webb tonight. Your backup plan should be run with running backs and pass with quarterbacks.

Should be a younger DA type. A QB who fits the Norv offense minus the added Cam stuff. Clausen doesn't fit a vertical attack....at all.

Ron Edwards- Cut due to age and injuries. Especially if we get a DT in this DT heavy draft.

Chris Gamble- Cut due to cap number. I hate to loose him but I'd rather free up money to resign Hardy next year. With an elite d-line we can makeup for his loss.

Bruce Cambell- If he's low man on the totem poll, cut him. We lost 4 starters on the line and never saw him. Can't be that important unless we just need another able body. Cut.

Armanti Edwards- I really want to give him another year. Keep.

Derek Anderson- Resign for Vet min. Too good in the system and a perfect backup QB. If he had to play a few games I wouldn't panic and that's worth the money.

JJ Jansen- No way, I've seen what happens when you muck around with a good long snapper. It's just not worth it to save a few hundred thousand. Keep.

Geoff Hangartner- Cut especially if we get another O-linemen earlyish in the draft.

Jordan Gross- Restructure. Still has a year to two at LT if necessary and then can do a another 1 or so at RT. Worth it for him and can stretch it out to 2015 when that big TV money comes in.

Jon Beason- God, what an ugly contract. Pay him 9.5 to stay or 6 to go as a Jun 1st cut. Another 6 next year too or 10,750 to stay another year. If we cut him next year it's be 4 million a year for 2 years as a June 1st cut. Cut him for 12 millions in dead money over two years or keep him one more year at 17.5 million basically for 1 year. It's a no win situation. It doesn't help that I think no matter what he says he wants to play MLB and hates playing the other positions. Davis is a much better WLB and Beason just doesn't fit a strongside guy because that guy usually takes on lead blockers, pulling guards, TE, etc. I just don't see how he fits but i love his passions and is a true talent even if he is a bit of a square peg in a round hole. I can save 3.5 million on this years cap but cutting him now. If he'll restructure to save at least that much I'll keep him.

Jason Phillips- Resign, good starter, great backup.

Deangelo Williams- Trade if we can. Cut if we can't. Will save us 5 million or so this year if a June 1st cut. I hate this as I love Dlo but we still have an elite RB in Stewart who is 3 years younger.

Trade: James Anderson- Cut. Will save us only 2 million this year but next year he goes to a 5 million a year guy.

Watch List:

Ryan Kalil- Not going anywhere unless he can't recover from his injury.

The first 6 guys on your cut list aren't going to do anything significant for us cap wise. None of them have high salaries, and the small savings are even smaller when you realize they have to be replaced by someone else. Maybe cut them because they suck, but don't expect much help on the cap.

With the issues we have with our cap, we are going to have to do something with our big money players. That means people like Gross, Gamble, Beason, etc.

It would take 25 Pilares type salaries to equal what Gamble and Gross are costing us on the cap.
