its hard to prove yourself when you dont see the field. im no Gettis fan, but what this team was lacking was what Gettis Strength was.getting vertically down the field and catching the ball. Murphy left a lot of plays on the field, and Edwards..........is just Edwards.if you did not think the guy would help this team, than he should have been cut.

You do realize Gettis' stats line was 200 yards and 0 TDs with Clausen right? Majority of his production was accounted for in 2 games Clausen didn't play...

So I will stick with my stance, Rivera's rookie year was more impressive since that comparison was the one brought up.

Pretty sure you called me a liar.....

Why don't we go back to that first. I said he didn't make any plays worth noting while Clausen was in (which was most of the year). Steve Smith quit in 2011. On top of that he isn't a vertical threat nor the YAC threat anymore......he generally depends on vet moves overall now. That IMO is probably worth discussing. Smitty has to take angles in open space to avoid being caught from behind and can't take the top off a D. He IMO is aging much faster than people realize bc he can still make people look silly.....but that is more vet tricks, being physical, and smart than anything.

Gettis is fast and runs the deep route well.....and he can make a play in one on one coverage with an experienced QB finding the matchup deep. I don't deny that. My only issues is he is currently the most overrated man in a Panther uniform.

I don't need to name one game where Rivera seriously out coached someone in order for Rivera > Gettis. He was in every game despite a lockout, rookie QB and had massive defensive injuries. His rookie year, Rivera had one of the better offenses in the last decade despite a rookie and no offseason. No bodies on D isn't a coaching flaw. Sure, Rivera had his negative moments, but...

But lets be real, your 2012 expectations are likely clouding and negatively impacting what was a solid debut here by RR. That is why you had those expectations after 2011 was finished.

Rivera rookie season > Gettis rookie season

Joe Adams and Josh Norman were both benched for extended periods of time under Rivera. I don't think they're any more "his guys", than anybody else. They were all drafted by Hurney.

I'd hesitate to call either of those benchings "unjust".
