Voth: Rivera is Staying

So, let me guess, we start out next season at 2-8, get eliminated from the playoffs, beat a couple of pathetic teams with their back-up QBs in, and finish the season 8-8.

But, 8-8 is an improvement over 7-9! So, Rivera stays another year.

I think we needed this.

The team needed an indentity, I feel we have one now, for good or for bad. We became a much stronger team and a team that plays for its coach. Deep down inside I honestly think the players know best and it will translate on the field next year and following years.

Im scratching my head at the manner in which we decide things here. Still think our OC was weakest link.

I'm ok with Rivera staying.... provided he comes out of the gates next year balls to the wall, knocks off the cutesy bullshit read-option crap, and gets his team prepared from day one. I know.. asking too much, right?

I'm not ok if we hire Beane. There is absolutely no reason for this guy to be the new GM. He has zero directly correlating experience, and no amount of "keep things family" will convince me or any other football fan that this isn't a yes-man hire. Quite simply, I don't hire my travel agent to be the pilot of the plane I'm about to take, just because he knows how to book a ticket, do I?

I wanted Ross, but if all these "sources" (loosely termed to be sure) say that what he is asking does not meet what JR is willing to give him, then Gettleman is definitely my second choice. The guy knows how to build winning football teams, and that is what we need for our guys. Anything less than those two, imo, is not only a slap in the face to the fans and supporters of ten plus years, but a huge sign that the organization does not deserve that support.

So what the hell are they going to shake up then? Mike Shula and his horrible mechanics?

He said that there was some personal issues that got in the way of communication on the offense's staff side of things. Expect it to be like position specific coaches that would be let go because of this issue.

Could be OL, RB, maybe even QB if that's the case.
