Django Unchained

Saw it tonight and loved it. There were funny scenes, great action scenes, great characters, moments I almost couldn't handle, and I never even looked at my phone wondering when the movie would end...a feat for a nearly 3 hour long movie. Rare for me that a great movie is also fun, but Django was just that IMO.

i watched it in jackson, mississippi, so my viewing experience wasn't the most pleasant.

the movie, however, was def. entertaining. i had watched 'lincoln' the day before [nothing to do in jackson, ms], and it was nice to see the contrast in the depiction of slavery.

great article to read here.

I'd love to hear a crowd report from ya haha

multiple phones ringing throughout.

every time a white person was killed or made fun of, there was a bunch of cheers.

every time a white person killed or made fun of a black person, there were moans, groans, and dissing white people in general.

one girl even yelled out "jackson state! woot woot!" during the middle of the movie.

there was a uniformed police officer standing outside the door, and not because of the batman tragedy.

it added to the humor of it all, though. the crowd seemed to transform an overly grotesque, slapstick drama into a theatre of the absurd [double entendre, for ya].

Son and I saw it the other day while he was home from college and we both loved it. Typical Tarantino flick. The best part of his movies to me is not necissarily what is going on in the movie at the time but the aticipation of what is coming up next. Just something about the dialogue in his films that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The most uncomfortable part of the movie for me was when about and 1 1/2 hours into the film and guy and girl brought there 4 year old daughter into the theater and sat right in front of us. Guy turned around and asked me how much of the movie had already been shown and I told him it was about half over. I then told the guy that it was a very graphic film and I just wanted to give him a heads up because of the little girl. I normally mind my own business and tried to put it as tactful as possible but damn that bothered me. It really ruined the second half of the movie because I couldn't stop seeing this little girl watching the movie and her reaction. Some people are terrible fuggin parents.
