Yeah, I see your point, but I wonder if that really is just a Chud thing. Rivera has allllways been a defense first coach. I wonder if he just handed the keys to Chud and told him to drive the offense. Not an excuse, because as a head coach you need to control the ENTIRE team, not just your favorite parts. Our offense cost us at least 3 games this year.

I believe he did give Chud complete control over the offense. I vaguely remember Rivera in one of his first press conferences, before we hired our coordinators, that he would oversee the offensive coordinators' dealings on offense. (Basically giving most of the control to the OC, and the OC letting Rivera in on what he is doing)

Until either the GM is hired or Rivera is fired there is nothing to talk about in regards to the panthers there just isn't. It will happen before the end of next week and I kinda figured it would take two weeks from the get go.

All of you wanting it done now and are crying about it taking so long are funny, the arguable best HC canidate as far as many are concerned just hit the market in Chip Kelly(I'm just Luke warm on him) so what do the panthers have to loose? Nothing

...so let me get this straight, we've sat on this decision until now???

Not fair to Rivera or the organization, IMO.

Wonder what would make JR wait almost a week to decide? Maybe we're waiting on word from another HC candidate we have our eye on, or maybe we were waiting for our desired GM candidate to weigh in on whether or not he'd take the job with the condition that Rivera get at least one more year?

IDK, but I'm shocked to hear that JR hasn't actually made a decision yet...

You can always be certain that Richardson will move at glacial speed and the fans will be kept in the dark. I used to admire his old school disposition but now find it annoying and disrespectful to the fanbase. I'm not just talking about the RR decision either.

there is literally nothing about this situation that i feel good about.

things should be happening faster. other teams are moving and we're sitting on our asses so we'll be forced to pick from the bottom.

awesome.

I would be surprised if we aren't doing more things than just one thing at a time. I am willing to bet that there has been some contact between the Panthers and prospective coaches if we decide to let Rivera go. To at the very least to gauge interest.

wow kind of feel bad for Ronnie here. That is a long time to not know if you will have a job or not.

Like Mick Mixon said on the radio today, Rivera could have been fired at any point this season after Hurney got canned and he knew it. Plus hes making about $4000 a day to not know. I dont feel sorry for Rivera - he made his own bed.

Feel sorry for us Panthers fans if you want to feel sorry for anyone.

My guess is that the reason for the delay on a Rivera decision is that JR wants to have Rivera explain what went wrong and what plans he has to fix the problems. And I do think he wants to give Rivera a genuine opportunity to present his best case, so gave him the week to prepare. After all, up until the finale, RR was focused on the season and not preparing for what is essentially a job interview. So, if this is actually the case, it is very fair to Rivera...albeit frustrating for the fans.
