Home Games and opponents 2012 record

Falcons(13-3)

Bucs(7-9)

Saints(7-9)

Rams(7-8-1)

Seahawks(11-5)

Jets(6-10)

Patriots(12-4)

Giants(9-7)

Away Games and opponents 2012 record

Falcons(13-3)

Bucs(7-9)

Saints(7-9)

Cardinals(5-11)

49ers(11-4-1)

Bills(6-10)

Dolphins(7-9)

Vikings(10-6)

Initial thoughts:Only 3 of our opponents next year lost more games than us this year. Of the 4 non divisional opponents we have faced once before under Rivera he is currently 0-4 against those teams(Cardinals,Giants, Seahawks and Vikings).

Top 3 Draft Picks

14

44

111(assuming 1 team gets a 3rd round compensatory pick)

Initial Thoughts:I see 2 maybe 3 starters coming out of this draft for us. Hopefully the new GM can find some good depth and players we can develop into future starters in rounds 4-6(no 3rd or 7th rounder this year).

2013 Free agents

Derek Anderson

Captain Munnerlyn

Louis Murphy

Jordan Senn

Sherrod Martin

Ben Harstock

Antwan Applewhite

Gary Barnidge

Mike Pollack

Nate Ness(Restricted)

Andre Neblett(Restricted)

Initial thoughts: According to the latest reports we will likely be 12-13 million under the cap once we carry over the 3.5 unused this year. I don't think we would terribly miss any of these players if we can't afford to retain them. Of the bunch I'd like to keep Derek Anderson the most. Munnerlyn,Murphy and Senn would be players I'd welcome back for depth purposes.

Speculation that the Raiders won't keep Shane Lechler.

Wonder how sold the team is on Brad Nortman.

Yeah that is a question that I have as well. I find it hard to use the "rookie" excuse on kickers and punters. Either you have it or you don't. I wasn't too impressed with brad Nortman; he hurt us way too many times with awful punts going 10 yards and out of bounds.

The reality is that if you are over 15 and we get the 3.5 from this year we are now at 11.5. Gross' cap hit in 2013 is 11.7 million. If we cut him as a June 1st cut we save 9.7 million since the 4 million left in guaranteed money will be paid out in 2 years. So honestly we cut one player and we are less than 2 million from erasing the cap deficit. And at training camp next year he will turn 33. He is not what he used to be. The cap is not the huge problem people think it is. Plus the money for the drafted players isn't included in the 120 million cap number but is set aside in a separate fund, IIRC.
