How much long are we going to delay finding our #1 WR

So improving the oline is going to make it MORE likely the quarterback is going to get hurt? I don't follow.

Also look what these guys are doing with their receivers:

Brady: Welker + a bunch of scrubs. Won 3 superbowls with Deion Branch as his number 1.

Rodgers: James Jones, Cobb, Nelson - All effective but none would be a true number 1 on other teams.

Brees: Colston could probably be considered a top ten wideout, but just barely. Colston's numbers aren't off the charts either considering how well Brees spreads the ball around. Brees was even this good before Graham and Sproles came to town.

Peyton: Yes he had Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne, both HOFers. However he always got production out of completely random players (Austin Collie, Stokely, etc) and is getting similar production out of Thomas and Decker although pretty good, would not say they are elite (Maybe Thomas).

Eli: Nicks and Cruz are a great one - two punch, but he has gotten great production out of the bad Steve Smith, Dominique Hixon, Mario MAnningham, Rheuben Randel and Ramses Barden.

Roeth: Wallace, Brown and Sanders. Once again all very good players and only one is elite. Roeth won a SB before Wallace came to town.

I completely agree that we need receivers - good ones too - I just don't think its worth blowing 1/13th of the cap on a top tier talent. Our quarterback isn't a Matt Ryan who is completely reliant on his skill position players outplaying DBs for the ball.

I was just saying WRs do need to get open. It was implied bad WRs can get open with a good OL. Not always the case. Good OLs block long enough to let plays develop.....the WRs still have to get open.

Welker is a matchup nightmare in the slot in a good scheme. Regardless of QB. Brady was never a stat machine until his weapons improved.

Rodgers has TONS of weapons. You left off the best WR as well. There is a reason why his BACKUP set just about every single game record last year.

Big Ben played like poo and won a Superbowl. D won it.

Yes, Peyton and Brees can play with out studs late in their careers. They are all time great passers. They aren't green QBs. Like you said, Peyton became an all time great throwing to HOFers and had a top end RB while he developed into what is now a one man beast.

Cam needs good WRs that suit his strengths and the offenses.

This coaching staff is lazy and similar to the Andy Reid era in philly. They just ride on the back of their dynamic QB by going to the playoffs all the time guaranteeing them their job but never give their QB enough weapon to be contender. In mcnabb's run to all the those NFC championships one of his top receivers was some guy name pinkston. This coaching staff is going to do the same. Build a strong defense but never a good enough offense to win the superbowl while going to a bunch of meaningless playoff games but never win the big one. I feel bad for Cam.

Hopefully the new GM have a different view in personnel or coach.

On another note, when I watch Cam play he seems to avoid the rush a lot and barely get sack. One of his problem seems to be finding open receivers down field. So I think if we get a big time WR, Cam can buy time to get him the ball. The O line is NOT that bad for a QB with Cam's talent.

McNabb in his prime was never the offense threat Newton is....even a green Newton.

The OL we finished the year with will get Cam hurt.

The G play we saw out the beginning will keep Cam inconsistent

Better be done this year! I'm not gonna jump on the wagon of wait for a Lee or Watkins in 2014.

If Richardson or Hankins are gone by 14, we better take Keenan Allen if he's there. If not take someone in the 2nd.

If we have to again and somehow get the chance to draft a Lee, Watkins or Amari Cooper in 2014, go ahead. Add one of them with Allen or whoever we take in 2013. Now well have two amazing threat for Cam to play with.

I agree with most this. I'd rather not take a DT in the first but if he is the BPA that fits our biggest need them i'm all for it. If they're gone and Allen is there I'd take him but there's a kid from Tenessee Tech who might be better. They say he's a Julio Jones clone. I think his last name is Rogers...If we could get Richardson or Hankins in the 1st and pick this kid in the 2nd it would be a win, win situation

I believe our number one receiver will emerge very soon, but in the meantime we should look to draft a number two receiver in this year's draft. Smitty is still a great receiver even at his age. As much as we complain about looking for a number one, there are teams out there currently and in the past who had no legitimate threat at receiver. Right now receiver is not a weakness with this team.

The only compatible team I can think of who doesn't have wrs is the Rams. And they're winning game bc of their Defense. Give Rams just one true no.1 and they can be pretty exciting.

Our defense is getting better but I don't think they're as good as the Rams yet.

Da'rick Rogers is really talented but has off field issues. If JR isn't afraid to take a chance and is willing to gamble on Rogers, it'd be something fun to watch. I seen comparison to Julio as well but as I look closer, I think he can be a Dez type of player for us.

Our receiving options are better than the Colts, Redskins, 49ers, and Vikings. (I would also say the Bengals)

Better than Vikings and Skins yea. But what? Colts (Wayne, Avery, Fleener, Allen), 49ers (Crabtree, Davis, Mannigham, Moss), and Bengals (Green simple handily beats our whole receiving corps).

We don't have a number one receiver on this team. A couple of "maybe" number twos, and a bunch of three and four receivers, but no number one. We have to go out and get one, because like it's been stated before, we've been putting it off for too long. I shutter to think what would happen if Smith were to go down with an injury. We'd be in a world of hurt, and Smith is at the age now where those small hampering injuries are more likely to pop up. Smith should be a #2 receiver at this point in his career. He's not the same out there.

Allen, Rodgers, or Hunter please.

All the Colts have is Wayne. (I think Steve Smith is better than him) The other guys are still developing. Olsen is better than Fleener, and Avery is just a speedy receiver. (Is that Donnie Avery by the way? I know I can look it up, but I'm too lazy to do it right now) B) As far as the 49ers, Crabtree is definitely becoming a good WR, but Smitty is better than him by a long shot. Moss is old, barely plays. Mannigham is a nice third option, but a third option none the less. Their best option is still Davis, and he's a TE. I'll take our corps over those guys.

AJ Green is definitely exceptional, but seeing as he's still young, I refuse to say he is better than our whole corps. I don't want to disrespect Smitty like that. ^_^
