RELEASE:

Ron Edwards: Can't stay healthy.

DeAngelo Williams: Attempt to trade first. Some will point to the Saints game, bit the fact is we don't need him and even if the savings aren't huge and there would be a cap hit, we'd still free up some cap space.

Jimmy Clausen: No real point in keeping him around.

Geoff Hangartner: Has been awful even when healthy.

Haruki Nakamura: Do I really need to explain?

ALLOW TO LEAVE VIA FREE AGENCY:

Captain Munnerlyn: Unless he'll stay for a small deal, he's just not worth investing good money into.

RE-SIGN:

Dwan Edwards: Rotoworld says he's on a 1-year deal. Extend him for 2-3 years.

Louis Murphy: Sign him for 2-3 years. Shouldn't cost too much.

Derek Anderson: Another 1-year deal.

RE-STRUCTURE:

Jordan Gross: We can't afford to cut him unless we're dead set on drafting his replacement in the 1st round. I say we ask him to take a pay cut and accept that he's no longer a Pro Bowler, but still a servicable left tackle.

Chris Gamble: I don't see how cutting him would help matters. We all know he's damn good when healthy and his cap number isn't that big for a #1 corner. Still, we can save some by restructuring.

TRADE:

Jon Beason: Get what we can for him, which should be a 4th or 5th. I'm sure John Fox would feel he's more than worth that even with the injuries and Denver does need help at LB. I love Beason to death, but the fact is we have no spot for him anymore. Moving him to OLB would mean Davis goes to the bench. We can find a much cheaper player to serve as insurance behind Davis and keep T.D. in the starting lineup.

FREE AGENCY:

OG Louis Vasquez (SD): Has the Charger connection and is a quality starting guard who could very likely be allowed to leave with the Chargers changing coaches/GM's. Wouldn't be "cheap" but we also wouldn't have to break the bank for him either. Would be a mid-sized contract based on the rankings I'm seeing.

WR/KR Josh Cribbs (CLE): Depth at WR and finally a quality return guy. Sign to a 2 year deal and hope that Joe Adams is ready when it's up. He can likely be had for pretty cheap as he's basically strictly a return guy at this point.

TE Delanie Walker (SF): Would be perfect for us as our #2 TE. Is a jack of all trades, including an excellent special teams player and likely wouldn't cost a ton either. He'd basically fill the roles that both Gary Barnidge and Ben Hartsock do by himself.

2013 DRAFT:

1st: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri - I'd also be fine with Jonathan Hankins here. Signing Vasquez negates the need to take Chance Warmack and it's likely the top corners will be gone. The most viable 2nd options are a LT, WR, or S. Richardson has a non-stop motor and is just relentless and was very consistent at Missouri as well.

2nd: Eric Reid, S, LSU - You can pretty much interchange this pick with whoever the top safety available is, but Reid is currently projected as a late 1st - mid 2nd rounder so there's a good chance he'll be there. He's played at a very high level on an elite defense in the SEC. Would be a day one starter opposite Godfrey.

4th: Caleb Sturgis, K, Florida - A little early for a kicker you say? Maybe true, but we saw last year with Bryan Anger that teams are willing to take the elite kickers/punters early if they have to. I wouldn't suggest taking Sturgis in the 3rd, but in the 4th he's fair game. We have to find a long-term solution at kicker.

5th: Marquess Wilson, WR, Washington State - Has some character concerns that have lead to his dropping down draft boards, but he was once projected as a 1st round talent. If he slips all the way to the 5th round he's well worth the gamble.

5th (Beason trade): Rod Sweeting, CB, Georgia Tech - Here's a guy with some sleeper potential, which is what you want in the mid-rounds.

7th: Cameron Marshall, RB, Arizona State - With Williams being released we need to bring in some depth at RB to compete for the 3rd RB spot considering Tolbert will serve as the 2nd RB and starting FB.

I don't think his contract would be an issue. Unless I'm misunderstanding it his base cap number would be low this year. The reason it's expensive for us is because of the huge, pro-rated signing bonus we're responsible regardless of where he ends up.

I love Cribbs, I would have loved to have had him when he went to the Browns, but I don't really want to add another aging WR to the roster.

I know Beason is being traded in the OP, but since Deangelo was mentioned...am I the only one seriously doubting teams will trade for DWill in the off-season? At the deadline sure, but now teams will just look towards the draft, and a team like the Packers could be staring at Gio Bernard for 1/5th of the price.

Example from last year, Doug Martin goes 31st overall and gets 5 years, $6.79 Million. I'd much rather grab an elite RB in the 1st, pay him 10 million (tops) over 5 years than trade a 5th or so and get Deangelo and his contract.

Yeah deangelo will be trade able because of the weak draft class for RBs and with a new team he may restructure much like Asante Samuels did. I would much rather not extend Anderson and take Klein in the 4th and not the kicker. Get the second best kicker in udfa

Klein doesn't have the arm strength to be a viable NFL QB. Maybe a backup game-manager type, but not worth taking before the 6th or 7th round, IMO.
