If they are both back next year then I hope Rivera remembers that Chud needs to be controlled.

If Richardson has any doubts about letting Ron stay because of Chudsinski, I wouldn't mind Norv Turner coming here to be the O Coordinator. Maybe Jerry will mandate it for Ron to keep his job? I know I would feel Norv would run a more traditional O with less risk, imho.

Chud has been pretty good for 75% of his tenure so far....he drove me just as batty with those dead handoffs that got everyone killed and deep bomb mania.

Keep this in mind: Rivera and gang were the first to take a huge risk and establish Spread and read concepts that Washington and a lot of other teams are introducing to the NFL. Now its all the rage.

I do like a run centered pistol style that Washington implements so there is always room for improvement but this season shows we can do both styles. I form pro sets and spread formations.

Sometimes ego plays a role and maybe(like most on this board) Chud thought he just discovered an offensive style that would take it to another level. For him to take that risk he has to believe in it to a point of stubbornness...

It was adjusted and tweaked...and we learn more from our failures..

Blessing in disguise: Coaching staff as well as Cam know learned a lot of things things that put the offense at risk...Cam finally corrected his own clock management and got the ball out of his hands quicker..making quicker reads.

if you can score, you do it early and often.

the problem chud had was he was trying to run two philosophies at the same time, one of them being one he had no experience with.

if you're going to run a coryell...you run a coryell. allow some designed runs and give cam the freedom to run if he sees a hole, but stick to the coryell. if you are going to run a read option...you run a read option, but you run it like kelly does. when you run the read option...use the same formation, but pass out of it. run screens out of it. run play action out of it. mix it up so that the defense doesn't know what's coming.

i think we have the makings of a run first offense, though...of course that depends on us keeping williams, stewart, tolbert, and newton together, but it can be done with one less than that group. we just need to run hard and make the defense think that a run can happen at any time, whether we've lined up for it or not. make them respect the running game and allow that respect to open up the passing game.

i think it's hard to do what chud was trying to do because he wanted all the passing plays to be from the coryell but he wanted all running plays to come from the read option. he basically told the defense our intentions. that resulted in failure.

If their is one thing that they should change for next year, if they are still here, is add more audible calls. Seriously it looked like Tecmo Bowl out there sometimes when the defense had the Read Option play snuffed out. Less all or nothing, more hot reads.

I dont know how times this has been asked of coaches but everytime I hear it in an interview it cracks me up. "Hey Coach, what if any stats stood out to you from yesterdays game". . . . "Uh, points"
