DeAndre Hopkins

Didn't see the LSU game because I had stuff to do that night, but they literally cannot cover anybody. If their front 4 doesn't get the quarterback to the ground or make him unable to complete passes(which they do more often than not), you can have a field day throwing on them.

Against the only decent secondary from the SEC he played this year, South Carolina, he had 1 catch for 43 yards. That's WITH Sammy playing on the other side. The year before that, he had 24 yards against them.

Don't think Sammy played against Aubbie, but they were so horrible this year that they were all-time bad. Their defense was absolutely pathetic. Shouldn't even be called an SEC team tbh.

All said, once again, wouldn't take him in the first. He's no AJ Green/Megatron/etc.

you cannot say he didnt play anybody when 2 of his best games where vs the sec.vs LSU he was the only threat and still caught 13 balls for almost 200 yards and 2 TDs. they had perfect coverage on him at times and he caught ball with DBs drapped on him. he got seperation from them and found the soft spots when they where in zone coverages. vs SC he had 1 catch for 43 yards but it was for TD with double coverage. Clowney took over the game whiched than lead to an inconsistent QB play. nobody said he was top 5 pick like megatron or AJ but he is well worth a look in the 1st and after this process he will probably go in the 1st.

I didn't say he didn't play anybody, I said he put up most of his numbers on the scrubs of the ACC. The only good team he put up numbers on was LSU, and like I said, their secondary can't cover anybody if their line doesn't get constant, overwhelming pressure.

That SC TD wasn't really double coverage. He was singled all night, and on that throw the roaming safety came over late, and really had no chance to make a play on the ball. But true, his only catch was for a TD.

I DO think he's better than Floyd, but I honestly didn't think Floyd was worth a first round pick. Arizona reached for him, and I wouldn't be surprised if he never has a season as good as Fitzgerald's worst season.

Let me be clear, I don't think Hopkins is a first round pick for the Panthers, not only because of how scouts view the program, but because I think the Panthers have much bigger needs than a WR, a spot that isn't guaranteed to pan out. If we did go WR, I think there would be at least one(most likely more) WR still on the board better than him, considering the spot we pick at.

You're free to disagree, it's just my opinion.

The distinction of being a starter is if you start a game.

Sunday at New Orleans Austin was the starting LG of the Carolina Panthers. I was projecting. Just stating a fact about a Clemson player playing in the NFL.

A 3rd string backup forced into action because 3 Olinemen are on IR is NOT considered "a starter".

Dumb all around.

you have your opinion, but to say he only put up big numbers vs a scrub ACC teams is ignorant.you play the teams on your schedule. you think he is better than Floyd who went at 15 but not worth the 14th pick. the safety came over top to help the CB on that play but Nuk was still able to make the catch speaks about his skill level. WR is a huge need for this team and Rivera has already said this.

i like tavon as well but not for the panthers.with smitty, edwards, pilares, and adams i feel like we have to many short build WRs. i would slide him in my 4th or 5th spot.

Fine. We've got backups who are not starters starting on more than half the offensive line for large portions of the year and multiple games.

When exactly was Byron Bell a starter? When he started two games over an injured Otah or when Otah went on IR two games later and Bell was named the full time starter and played out the rest of the year.

I understand what you're saying. We're just defining a "starter" in the NFL as two different things. I say it can be when you start a game and you're saying it's when a guy beats out other good players and is the starter for the foreseeable future, not just because a guy is injured. I just think that in the NFL many times you're already there before anyone realizes it just like my Bell example.

I wasn't trying to say Austin is our regular starting LG, just that he was from Clemson and he started an NFL game.

Jeez.

PS. I'm really impressed with clips of Patterson.

The person talking ignorant is calling others ignorant, I don't even...

Can you read? Again, I said he put up most of them on scrub ACC teams, not all.

Again, I said I didn't think Floyd should have even gone in the 1st round, so how does that factor into me not thinking he's worth the 14th pick? It doesn't matter where he went, when considering where people think he should have went.

The safety was late. It wasn't double coverage, considering the ball was already out before the safety even made his move. Nuk didn't have to make a move to make the catch, it was right on him and behind the defense. If anything, it says more about the QB.

If he wants a WR, there's plenty of proven ones in FA.

Reading comprehension, man, it's important.

it is ignorant to ignore facts, the guy has produced vs the teams he played(even SEC teams). that is all scouts ask for. you might not think that a prospect was worth a selection that high, but the team that grabbed him thought so.when has the panthers been big players for FA?

It's ignorant to say it's ignorant to ignore facts when nobody is ignoring facts.

It doesn't matter if the Panthers haven't been players in FA before; if the Big Cat wants a super bowl to come to the Carolinas before he's gone, he needs to let the new GM do what they want when it comes to free agency, especially if that GM is Ross or Gettleman. They know talent, and they know the wealth of it that's out there when it comes to FA WRs.

Throw everything out the window if it's Beane though, we're dead in the water if that's the case.
