NFL Coaching / GM News

Mr. Scot

A little good news for our San Diego buddy Boltergeist...

Add Mike Zimmer to the list of people whom the Chargers are looking at for head coach (previous reports also named Mike Holmgren and Jim Mora Jr as possible options).

On the GM front, word that they've given a second interview to Tom Telesco. Reports are that Jimmy Raye is still considered the favorite, but Telesco definitely has a real shot.

San Diego media seems to think it's Telesco now. He's still in town. I have a feeling Wolf might've won out on this one.

As for Zimmer, I'd have to hold judgement until I see his offensive staff.

Missed that. Thanks.

Schefter noted the timing (that they were expected to name their guy today) and that Telesco was in town. I think you might be right.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Zimmer call on Bob Bratkowski since they used to work together. I suppose he might also look back to some of his old colleagues from his Cowboy days.

SD should be announced soon, Telesco is the new GM.

That'd rob the Jets of another option

Latest word is they've also reached out to Brian Gaine (Dolphins Assistant GM). Sounds like they're no longer interested in Ross (conceivable he doesn't want them).

Today's "New of the Weird" courtesy of Ian Rapoport (a story that surprisingly doesn't involve the Jets).

Regarding Todd Haley, a source with the Steelers said he's interviewing for the Cardinals head coaching job today.

Haley's agent, however, has said that he's not doing any interviews and is happy where he is.

Asked about the story, the Arizona Cardinals had no comment.

The hell...

Gamble was close to being hired, not sure what happened there except he was wanting to fire Rex.

Word was his interview "didn't go well". That could conceivably be translated to mean he was something less than enthusiastic about keeping Rex Ryan. They were kast said to be checking on Brian Gaine of the Dolphins and their own Assistant GM Scott Cohen.

Honestly, if I were a GM candidate, I'd steer well clear of The Woody and Rex Show. Those guys give dumpster fires a bad name.
