Albert Breer says Caldwell chose to go back to Jacksonville after his second interview with the Jets.

Translation: He took a good look at what he'd be walking into and said "Screw this. It'd be worth taking a lower paycheck to be far away from this dumpster fire."

Expect Caldwell to consider 49ers OC Greg Roman, if the Jags fire Mularkey. Plane's taking off now ... See you guys in a few.

It means #Jets are down to Tom Gamble, Marc Ross and Scott Cohen. Or they could expand the field.

Panthers keep finding scapegoats, but bigger problems remainhttp://wp.me/p14QSB-6SOy

To be honest, it’s hard to see what Rivera’s plan is, other than stay employed.

But the deeper problem in Charlotte is that there doesn’t seem to be much of a plan at all.

This was one of the points of my big rant the other day.

And to be honest, I don't think there's been a plan since the Arizona playoff game.

Browns set to interview Mike Zimmer for their head coaching spot. Ian Rapoport says there are other teams also interested in interviewing him.

Doug Marrone got the DC he wanted. The Bills have hired Mike Pettine. Be interesting to see if they can pry Carmichael away from the Saints for their OC.

Commenting on the speed of the process, Geoff Mosher (CSN) says last year, four teams didn't have a head coach in place till about three weeks into January.

A little good news for our San Diego buddy Boltergeist...

Add Mike Zimmer to the list of people whom the Chargers are looking at for head coach (previous reports also named Mike Holmgren and Jim Mora Jr as possible options).

On the GM front, word that they've given a second interview to Tom Telesco. Reports are that Jimmy Raye is still considered the favorite, but Telesco definitely has a real shot.
