NFL Coaching / GM News

The Ross part? As for Pagano, I'm fully on board with his retention as a condition for a new coach. If Ingram makes a 2nd year leap and we get the slightest improvement out of the DBs then Top 10 might be the floor. He'll there's a small part of me that says effit and give him a shot at HC now, even if he's a year or 2 away. The Paganos may end up being the next Harbaughs.

Yeah, the part about Ross insisting on his own staff. That came from a Giants blogger.

There is some speculation that a few teams are just using him to satisfy the Rooney rule. Sad, but plausible.

Any word from out west on how his interview went?

Not really. As for any interest we initially had, it wasn't for Rooney purposes since Raye already took care of that. There will probably be a better sense of where people stand once the road show gets back to San Diego

Looks like the stories that Lombardi had the Cleveland job sewn up might be bogus.

Reports are they're interviewing candidates this week. George Paton is one. They've asked about Gamble too but I won't be shocked if he declines (he blew off the Jags request for a second interview)

I've heard over the past couple of days that Kelly would be able to bring in a guy if he's hired, which is definitely not been decided on yet.

As of a quarter to ten, Kelly was still meeting with the Eagles.

They're apparently making a really big pitch for him (after earlier indicating they weren't that interested).

I guess his reported dinner date with the Browns is going to be a midnight snack.

He is going to leverage the hell out of those two teams and end up with a ridiculous contract.

Probably.

Kevin Acee confirms that the Chargers choice is down to Tom Telesco (Colts) or in-house option Jimmy Raye. He does give Steve Keim an outside shot though.

I'm starting to wonder if Marc Ross has body odor or something.

Conspiracy theorist might say he's tanking with everyone else because he wants to work for us.

(the whole idea is ridiculous, but hey...)

    • What are the matchups, stats and superlatives?   I think this will be a hard game. Bucs are a very balanced team on offense:  7th  in total yards per game, 7th in passing, 10th in rushing. Baker is having another career year even better than last year but despite missing his Godwin and Evans. Bucs defense is poor (29th) particularly passing defense, but we’re also depleted in our receiving with Coker and Sanders likely out. Running Chuba is key but their defense is better against the run. (16th) I think this is likely going to require us to score a lot of points to keep up and hopefully the home field advantage tips the scale in our favor. My other concern is our run defense and being able to stop their rookie study Bucky Irving who the Bucs have shifted more carries to recently and he’s averaging 5.4 ypc and knows how to get into the endzone with 5 TDs so far.
    • This is nonsense and you know it. People will be happy when we are consistently and convincingly winning games against good teams. There are people in here talking down to others after losses and barely beating the terrible NY Giants. If you want to strut around here like only you are a real Panthers fan and rage pooing posts because your jimmies are rustled then hey good luck with all that. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.
    • Who had the massive meltdown last year? Hope they feel better this year.
