NFL Coaching / GM News

Mr. Scot

I'd expect that to be the case if it happens at all.

I think it has to come down between Gettleman and Paton now. People are saying Paton is Rick Spielman right hand man and has helped the Vikings build the team they have today. I prefer to have Paton over all the other candidates.

What do you know about Patton?

Works under a super smart guy in Rick Spielman.

Has past connections with both Rivera and Mike Shula.

Has had prior interviews for GM jobs also.

Name is pronounced like "Payton" (yeesh)

And as a side note, I had a couple of chances to meet and talk to his boss's brother - former NFL linebacker and Buckeyes legend Chris Spielman - back when I lived in Ohio (nice guy).

Marc Ross must have really bad breath or something.

Well if Ross wants control over naming a complete coaching staff, then that might be a sticking point with San Diego. The Spanoses want to keep John Pagano and as much of the D staff as possible. We finished 9th with an OK pass rush and DB issues. This is why the Telesco/Arians duo is a clubhouse leader.

I don't think that's been reported by a reliable source.

The Ross part? As for Pagano, I'm fully on board with his retention as a condition for a new coach. If Ingram makes a 2nd year leap and we get the slightest improvement out of the DBs then Top 10 might be the floor. He'll there's a small part of me that says effit and give him a shot at HC now, even if he's a year or 2 away. The Paganos may end up being the next Harbaughs.
