An indicator that Rivera might be safe

Players help Rivera state his case

It's been noted before that what goes out on Panthers.com is fairly controlled (think Pravda). As an example, when the writing was on the wall for Jake Delhomme, you started seeing articles questioning Delhomme and praising Matt Moore. Prior to that, it was rare to see the team site acknowledge much negative about Delhomme's performances. Once they started actually talking about it, the signs were there.

Mind you, "safe" might only mean that he's not fired this week. I still believe the ultimate decision will be left in the hands of the new General Manager once he's hired. Although I'd expect that to be reasonably soon, no one knows exactly how long that will take.

But seeing an article like this, one highlighting how much the players love Rivera and have been willing to play hard for him, on the official team page makes me think they might be at least leaning toward the positive.

Read it for yourself and see what you think.

Forever the Huddle will hold an IQ lower than Cowboys fans.

If true, this is a good choice.

The coaches, the players, the owner (if he hires Ross or Gamble) looks to have finally got it. No need to make a stupid decision you will regret.

These past four weeks Rivera has earned his job.

Don't give that bull that it's the same stuff that happened last year, because it's not. This year we were in all but two games, the difference is that these past four weeks; we found a way to win.

How have they finally got it? Did they get it at the end of last year as well?

Ofcourse he is safe. The real question is who the GM is. I think any GM prospect wouldnt mind keeping Rivera for another year. He wont have the pressure of having to find a coaching staff right off the bat. Especially a HC coming off four consecutive wins and a 7-9 record. If Rivera has a winning record next season, thats one less problem the new GM has to worry about and can focusing on building the team

Someone has been spoiled by John Fox. This wasn't going to fixed in two years, only an idiot would think so. With all the injuries the Panthers have suffered this year, it's a wonder that they even won 7 games.

Also last year the Panthers weren't even in a lot of games, this year at least the Panthers were in all but two of their games. They finally learned how to win those close games at the end of the season.

Take lines like this, for example...

The Panthers ran the table outside of a loss to an emotionally inspired Kansas City Chiefs team, beating a pair of NFC South foes along the way to finish second in the division.

The way that's written, it minimizes the loss to the Chiefs.

Follow that with this...

The four-game winning streak to cap the season started with a victory over an Atlanta Falcons team that had lost just one game. It ended Sunday with a road victory over a New Orleans Saints squad that had won seven of its last 11 games/

...highlighting the good teams that they beat.

I put that under the "things that make you go 'hmmmm'" category.
