What would trading J-Stew do to our cap?

Other than Chris Gamble, Stew could bring in a healthy draft pick, maybe a third round pick. He just signed a decent contract, but he is a young star player, and teams would be willing to pay that contract. My only thing is, will trading him hurt our cap situation?

He had 336 rushing yards this season and played in only 9 games. He's not going to have a ton of trade value, Honestly Williams would have more value in a trade at this moment. He ended the season with over a 4 ypc average and over 700 yards rushing with 5 touchdowns. (The same amount of rushing TD's that Stewart has the last two seasons combined)

Prisoner of the moment....

Coaching staff has proved they like Stewart the best for what they want to do.

4 years younger than Williams.

Has played better in this offense overall than Williams.

Which is kinda stupid, since Williams has outplayed Stewart the last two years in this offense by a wide margin. Stewart isn't getting traded though. That's even taking away todays game as well.

Someone will have to be gone in this trio. I don't think Williams will fetch anything decent from a trade, and we have to do something with that contract if we decide to keep him. Stew is the only player who will fetch us something in a trade. I wish we could keep all of them, but the reality is we won't be able to play all three players. All of them need carries, and if we kept all three, they will take carries away from each other.

Would it hurt our cap? Yes he just inked a deal.

Someone said yesterday that the way Stew's contract is set up, it would have less of an impact on our cap than releasing D-Will. I don't know if that's true or not, probably not.

sometimes i wonder what the hell people look at when they watch games.

Just the fact that Williams has twice as many touchdowns and over 500 more rushing yards and over 200 more total yards over those two years. Also has less fumbles and a higher YPC average as well on just 58 more touches.

Deangelo has been and continues to be the best rb on this roster. Talk about living in the moment? Stewart fans are living in the moment of one game two years ago. I don't care about age we can draft a young RB and keep Williams. RBs are a dime a dozen

Given the contract info available to the general public, it appears to me that trading Stew would be nearly impossible cap-wise.

It all comes down to whether his guaranteed money is fully guaranteed or whether there are outs written into the contract.

If not for the cap implications, he is the one I would try to move. Yeah, DWill is older, but he still is the better overall back, and while his contract is excessive, it's structured in a way that we can cut him without it hurting us.
