We didnt have to grow to like them. And we didnt encourage people to constantly attack their character.

So you don't remember people attacking Matt Moore's "couldn't care less" attitude or Jimmy's god awful spoiled sissy boy persona?

I dont remember you fighting hard for people's right to tear up Matt Moore and Jimmy Clausen's attitudes, no. You yourself used to defend Matt ALOT. I dont remember those guys ever playing as well for us as Cam is either, or even drawing the kind of attention we're getting. If the guy wasn't playing well the character attacks would be more understandable.

Media

The infatuation this board has with media sours my stomach. Why they are even a topic of discussion is insulting. Intelligent people do not take media personalities seriously. Ever. Good, bad or indifferent (the content they spew) the people that make up the media are disingenuous at their very best. They serve no other purpose than to sell the ads that insulate the contracts that fatten the pockets of the owners, players, and unions. The money is what has made the game as weak as it has become. If you are dependent on the media being friendly, I cannot find any respect for you intellectually.

Fans

There are dumb-as-sh|t fans everywhere. We have some real winners among us for sure but I don't think we are worse for wear because of it. If we did not have all the dumbasses we have on this board or out in the public who would we have to make fun of after all. I love fans. Fans of all teams. Especially the weak minded of them. I remember the other week when I actually went out to the pub to watch our game against Atlanta and the place was packed. After our game I noticed some loud as hell bux people watching their game. The Eagles (yeh the Eagles) were giving them all they could handle and when some game-sealing play for Philly occurred I rudely laughed very loud as if to say... damn you guys suck. These two clowns got pissed at me (which is what I was hoping for) but what happened next is what I am getting at. One goof angrily pointed at me and the slapped his pal and said "he doesnt even have any gear on... where's your gear? You're not wearing any GEAR!!!!"

What the f-ck? Gear?? LMAO. Fans are the best.

Newton

Cam has taken some lumps this year. Unfortunately for him it kind of matters a little bit what the parrots say because he has to play the game and interact with these idiots. Its part of the gig and he is handsomely rewarded for his efforts so I don't feels too sorry for him. I think he knows it is a game and I think the roastings he takes are likely because he lets the majority of these hacks know in one way or another that he is only speaking to them because he "has" to. That said he was limited somewhat early in this year away from playing his game because some overzealous coaches thought they were really smart. They may be smart but they sure were not in this case. Turns out what we found out is that he needs to be able to play his game and let his ability win games. He is good enough. We don't need to reinvent the wheel and make him into the perfect weapon. He is good enough without having to employ the double secret, super sneaky, ultra awesome game plan and playbook. That lesson was a hard one to learn and through it all (and in hindsight) I have to give Cam credit for remaining as tactful and as committed to the leadership as he did in spite of what I can now understand must have been an excruciatingly difficult position of helplessness.

Nutshell?

We have what we want although it was hard to see at times.

We all take it a little too seriously.

We sure as hell should not need some four-letter or local hack to tell us so.

I criticized Cam early in the year for paying poorly and acting poorly.

He has fixed that over the past 5 or 6 games and I am glad he has.

Me too. Only thing I want to see now is more consistency, but the type of QB he is doesn't necessarily lend to that.

Gunslinger QBs are just about always streaky, You just have to hope for them to maximize the good streaks and minimize the bad ones (essentially what Favre did at his best).

Its probably used more to describe anyone who is perceived to be a trouble maker or someone that embraces the materialistic me first nonsense that plagues the air waves today,

People who like to be offended and look for a reason to be constantly probably see the word thug as a good opportunity.

If you say so Zod.

And at last check a "thug" is simply a not a trouble-maker, as you may define one to be based on your examples. The title is more associated with gangs of all races. But has since been watered down and thrown around by some to meet their own idea of "trouble-makers."

Also, we all know the purpose for and meaning behind words changes according to who and how it's used, Zod. I guess you must feel that the "N" word and others like it used to intentionally stereotype and do harm were just in the minds of those they were used against and those folks were looking "for a reason" to be offended.

Yes being born and raised outside of this country has taught me one thing; to truly get rid of a probem, on must first admit there is one. Sometimes, it seems way to many folks in this country have yet to honestly do.

Anyway, Congrats on your team finishing their season strong. I know a play-birth would be more preferred but this team is a work in progress. It first must learn to build confidence in knowing how to walk before it can run. Today is a sign that the Panthers are gelling as a team and is gaining the confidence to WIN.

Good Luck next season. I believe this team has the weapons and confidence. It just needs the maturity and discipline.

Zod, You and I know that Cam was not doing anything different during the beginning of the season that he's not doing now. He's still wearing his towel on his head and still loves to win and hates to lose.

And as I've said from beginning, Cam's mistakes had more to do with him pressing and believing he needed to do it all instead of letting the game come to him and that could have been because the TEAM was not stepping up when they needed too. But it seems as if you're eyes were always on Cam and everything he did.

It does seem as if you're not being very objective at all towards Cam but is hiding your own personal prejudices behind every criticism and silly media scrutiny of him.
