Yesterday, I stated that a lot of what's happening to Cam has to to with him being in the South. I was quickly accused of trying to stir up racism and was ridiculed. Guess what, my point had less to do with racism and more to do with what I've observed in the past two plus years.

It seems those who have Cam are forced to feel unhappy about having him because of the endless scrutinizing the negative images being created against him by the media and pushed by those who are still seething that he helped a much rival college team achieve a goal. It seems some of them set out to tarnish Cam because they see him as way to "perfect."

I see what I see, not because I'm anyone's "nuthugger" but because I'm quite observant. I see the same game that was played with Auburn students being played with you Panthers fans by outsiders and even by Panthers fans who seem to still have some ax to grind against Cam.

I really agree with this thread. I honestly wonder if it would have been better if the Bills had taken Cam instead of the Panthers. I don't believe the media's hate would have subsided but I believe folks wouldn't be so quick to entertain everything they read as much because a lot of them don't have any real dislike or prejudgement of Cam outside of the media. The whole Auburn vs. Bama stuff is mor a Southern and ESPN thing than up here in the Northeast.

In all honety, folks in the North are not so much into the Cam Newton hate as the folks are in the South and that's a fact. IMO, Cam still being part of that world where all the hate between Auburn and Bama exists. Which makes it easier to continue pushing every fictional story out there against him. Not so much because folks believe it, but because it will in some way, satisfy their egos towards him.

As you can Tell by The Golden Calf of Bristol, folks up North don't care what you did in college and how much of a star you were. They only care about what you're doing know. They are very quick to forgive and even quicker to forget. The fear-mongering and race baiting, wouldn't be still working so much in the North as it seems to be doing in the South and that's a fact.

So I've worked a lot of bar/restaurant jobs in Atlanta through an entertainment company I used to work for, and I've met a poo ton of people in the bar/club industry. I've heard a lot of stories.

I know people that saw Ray Lewis kill that guy. I know Eugene Robinson was trying to pick up a tranny the night he grabbed a UC. I know the zifty guy that delivers Matt Ryan all his meals from the restaurant on the bottom floor of his luxury condo complex. I'm basically the guy from this Steely Dan song.

Cam Newton does not drink, at least not in public. He never stays anywhere past one. He's been dating the same girl for years. He's goofy as hell and is really only comfortable on a football field. He's smart, well spoken, and tips well.

It's just the mainstream sports media trying to spin a narrative for viewers and web clicks. They're going to push whatever agenda they think will get them more ratings, rather than the truth. It's media bias, they're not out to get Cam. They just want to frame him as a bad guy if it helps them, just like they push The Golden Calf of Bristol and jets stories.

Well, I think Cops/Springer has that train-wreck/drama factor. People love that poo. But The Golden Calf of Bristol is a great humble guy. I think it is just hero-worship. People for some reason want their heroes to be human beings that are not in their life i.e. athletes, actors, singers, politicians etc...And the media is trying so hard to sell this hero to the public. Poor guy

WFNZ is the only station I have seen where EVERY show host, sans one (Brett Jensen and he is from fricken Gastonia) is from someplace else and a fan of another franchise.

Amazing how there are people in this thread, who are trying to downplay the level of bullshit Cam/Panther fans have endured this season alone. From the media outlets, external AND internal, from players and fans of other teams and even so-called fans on THIS VERY BOARD.

Shitty fanbase,, shitty radio and print media. Please stop with the, "well they do _ in NY and other large markets". I live in Princeton. Smack dab in-between PHI and the city (NY). We get local news from both markets, hell I get three 1'o'clock games a week some weeks. They go to war for their own, until there is no choice left, then they will call them out.
