Do not want Chip Kelly after this rumor....

Meh. Doesn't really bother me. He will have a better idea as to what personnel will work in this offense than your typical NFL GM.

Kelly is not at the top of my list. But I really don't have a realistic top of my list right now.

But if this happens, I am not going to lose any sleep over it.

Well JR has a huge hardon for Cowher but he wanted complete control. If he was unwilling to give it to him, he wont give it to a college coach.

Never know, things could have changed between now and then given his loyalty, at the time, to Hurney. I really doubt he would give a coach full control over personnel decisions though.

Some of you do not understand the art of negotiation yet. You never start with what you want you start with beyond what you want & then "settle" in the middle with what you actually wanted. I'm glad people still fail to understand this, as it has always made life easier for me.

That is true. It could just be a negotiating tactic. You never know about these things in till you start hearing stuff about deals and agreements in principle.

Chip's Agent can float this story out to a "Source" to test the waters on this but they'll quickly realize there is no shot any NFL Franchise will give Kelly Carte Blanche on Personel decisions.

This.

The only guys who get deals like that are well established coaches with Super Bowl rings - and still yet, their success hasn't exactly been widespread magnificent success in those scenarios either.

Yeah it's rare.

Jimmy Johnson - before Jerruh decided he should be the acting GM and blew JJ out. How's that working for you Jerruh?

Mike Holmgren, but I think he also suffered burn out.

Bill Parcless in various scenarios.

Anybody else?
