Lombardi think Rivera will be gone Monday.

there is no way Rivera will be fired. I am 100% certain on that. If he is, it's the most foolish thing to happen in the history of the Carolina Panthers

Do you know how much we paid Delhomme after that performance against the Cardinals?

Do you know how much our RBs are getting paid?

Shush.

I don't know about Panthers specific, but he has a very good track record. He called Pioli to the Chiefs, Tony Gonzalez to the Falcons, Favre to the Jets. He's a former (and future) NFL exec, so he absolutely has good sources.

The tricky thing is knowing whether he's using sources or giving his opinion here.

According to Person, he cited no sources and this is merely a hunch.

The game Sunday will have absolutely nothing to do with what happens to Rivera. The decision has already been made by J.R. at this point, whatever it is.

I'm honestly not sure what will happen. It's 50/50. Personally, I think we should bring in someone else that the new GM hand-picks so that we can have a team that's 100% the vision of the new GM and coach rather than keeping parts of the old regime.

That said, I wouldn't be that upset if Rivera stays either. I just don't think he's the answer long-term. It's one thing to win meaningless games late in the year, but this team under him has shown no ability to handle pressure and to put games away when it matters most. I can't bring myself to believe that will change with another year.

The question J.R. has to ask himself is whether or not Rivera is the long-term answer for this franchise. It can't be just a matter of has he bought himself another year, but has he convinced J.R. that he can take this team all the way some day. I don't believe that he can.

This is a good point because as starving fans we just want that 9-7 but realistically we need to chose a coach who has the potential to win the Super Bowl. I don't see it.

The more I reflect on this entire season the harder it is to imagine jr wanting to bring Rivera back.

Guest Tom Cat

This coaching staff has let Cam Newton step on his own dick too many times this season and has not done well developing and playing up our talents elsewhere. If we retain them we will have nothing but mediocrity for years to come. We need to hire a gm and head coach/staff who can get the best/most out of our most valuable players, not the best/most out of a bunch of 2nd and 3rd string scrubs. Thats what we have now, and its why we suck and can only inconsistantly beat other suck hole teams.

I think the more interesting issue is the coordinators. Both seem to have improved and both have shown promise. I mean our whole coaching staff were rookies really. Chudinski had that year with the browns and Sean had that one year with the eagles. What will happen there

I think RR is gone. If one game was going to seal his fate, it was the KC game but actually think it is the overall record. The poor record in close games, the embarrassing 2 min drills, poor clock management, the lack of a running game with all the talent, lack of consistency, etc, have already factored in. I do not think that JR will think another losing season is trending up.

Best news of the season,I hope it's true.

Bill Cowher is a leader of man.

While I would like to have Bill as HC here. But the question becomes is how much does he have in the tank left to be the HC in NFL. He has not coach in 5 years. Does he still have it or can he even get players to perform for him like he use to for the Steelers. It's a big question right now if he could do the job or not. Really I would whether go with Chip Kelly at this point then Cowher. Just been honest.

I went back to the show and he said he is certain that Reid, Turner, and Rivera will be done on Monday. We will see soon enough if he is right.

I completely agree. As I stated in this thread before I believe Rivera sealed his fate earlier in the season with the losses to KC, Denver, and Tampa Bay. Over the past two year Rivera has not been that good of a coach. He hasn't had any game that says yeah he can eventually get us to the Super Bowl. His wins the past two years only come out at the end of the season. He is 2-8 before the month of December. I think he is done Monday morning.
