Well that's because he's obviously not, Cam comes across that way to people that aren't a fan of the Panthers because they don't realize that Cam all around plays a different style of football then anyone else in the NFL.

But I believe a lot of that has to do with their own egos. Some folks seriously hate to see someone they see in a certain light, succeed when they want him/her to fail. It seems a lot of folks, especially in the media dislike Cam because he seems to perfect in their eyes. He's a handsome young man. He's quite talented and when folks set out to create pitfalls for him, things just seem to work themselves out to his benefit. That burns some people to no ends.

Also, personal perception of others does beats reality any day and our media knows that. Which is why it's so easy to paint The Golden Calf of Bristol as some sort of Saint and Cam, into nothing more than another "thug" with "immaturity issues" who's just waiting to end up in "jail." Sadly, there are way too many folks who simply judge others based on nothing more than their image and what they see on tv.

The people who support The Golden Calf of Bristol as fans or see themselves in him dont engage in a lot of "self actualization". Short of cussing out reporters or doing something just incredibly stupid and indefensible I dont ever expect the media to attack a player like The Golden Calf of Bristol's character or imply some sort of innate flaw or tie him to other failed QBs like Todd Marinovich. Thats not how they make money, thats not how they feed century old stereotypes, thats not how they help people cope with a changing world. I do expect them to present him as privileged (saying he would decide where he would play last offseason, already reporting he will work for another team while he's still employed by another) and ENTITLED. They did the same thing with Andrew Luck, even though he's more of a traditional QB, but both players where big college stars with big followings and massive media hype.

Cam for the most part is marketed under the Jim Crow era stereotype of "brute". He's big, strong, and quick, and athletically gifted, but he's "immature", "not trust worthy (fake smile)", is a "showboater", and has had his intelligence questioned many of times. He is a "brute" all the way. So attacks on his character will be constant, implications of his mental flaws will be a staple in any piece on him. He's also gonna be expected to not show too much emotion or do anything that might be perceived as non-conformist. No one will question his athletic gifts, but intangibles and mentality are fair game for any "brute". Google the word.

The worst thing we can do as fans is ignore or try to shield the double standards. They need to be called out, because the truth is, moving forward those double standards and biases are seriously hurting the credibility of the QB position. Its hurting how people like at guys like Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, etc. Guys who can only play 1 position on the football field but are credited as great football players. If they'll do it for The Golden Calf of Bristol (who sucks as a QB) why wouldnt they do it for those guys?

The media plays to the underlining false perceptions that still are alive and well in this country. The only difference is, for every negative black stereotypical tag placed on Cam, can be quickly offset by painting RG III as the opposite.

When it's all said and done, The Golden Calf of Bristol, Cam and even RG III are all victims of a society who is still steep in racial stereotyping.

It's no wonder that a kid like Trayvon Martin became the size and height of someone like Cam in the minds of some simply to justify his senseless killing. When in reality, nothing was further from the truth. Perception vs. reality.

I'll try and reword what I said.

I don't hate Christians. I couldn't really give two fugs what people believe. It's your prerogative. What I dislike about The Golden Calf of Bristol is the way his whole thing is so scripted. His The Golden Calf of Bristol kneel, his first and foremost I'd like to thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ thing. Like I said, I don't hate the guy, but his act is tired.

Wow at a lot of the comments Im reading about The Golden Calf of Bristol. His whole "act" is sad you say? Well lets say it is an act..its a better act than 99% of the thugs in the NFL. Jesus Christ got blasted on this earth and people said his act was just an "act." I commend The Golden Calf of Bristol for his faith and his willingness to express it at any chance.
