Yet another Chip Kelly source/rumor

More gimmick offense

gimmick nothing.

it's a run heavy offense in which the running game (which forces the defense to have to choose between two possible runners instead of one) sets up the passing game and forces the defense to choose between trying to overload the box to stop the run game or protect themselves against play action, screens, bootlegs, or the triple option or any of a myriad of other plays taking advantage of the holes they leave open.

and they do this giving the defense no time to adjust, get set up, disguise what they are going to do, or make substitutions.

not sure where the gimmick is.

More gimmick offense

Top 3 YPP Offenses in the NFL right now ?

Niners, Seattle, Panthers.

Read option is a big part of that.

It's not the devil we have made it out to be.

It just has to be balanced with under center plays as well.

Kelly isn't so fugtard stupid he would run it every play.

Key word: "rumor".

...but as others have said, of all the teams that may be seeking a new coach this year the Panthers are the most attractive, especially to an offense-minded coach.

I wouldn't mind Kelly, but it's a big risk IMO... I don't think he'd try to run a gimmick offense in the NFL, but since most of his success has come from running a gimmick offense it's hard to tell if he's got anything besides that?

Honestly, I would like to see us hire Arians if he's available.

he doesn't even do it all the time now. he just makes the defense think they are and forces them to focus their efforts to try and stop it, leaving themselves open to being exploited by lots of more traditional plays that are used frequently.

Kelly wouldn't run his college offense in the NFL. It would be more unique than any other offense in the league still, but he's a brilliant offensive mind and probably knows exactly what he needs to do to have the best offense in the NFL

his "college offense" is already being run in the NFL.just mot as well or as completely as he runs it. and he runs a lot of traditional plays in his scheme. there's not a whole lot different between what he does and teams in the NFL are doing already.
