One thing I fear. We beat the Raiders but lose to the Saints..

I actually wouldn't be opposed to Rivera staying, assuming we finish strong. I like what I have seen the second half of the season. I think a lot of people want to get another coach but that's shortsighted. This is only Rivera's second year as a head coach ANYWHERE. He is constantly learning and as long as the team is improving and he hasn't lost the players, why not give him a 3rd year. We could easily be an 8 or 9 win team right now if a few plays had gone differently ON THE FIELD in Chicago, Atlanta, and here at home against Seattle (Cam doesn't throws ball into turf at end), and Tampa to name a few. You can't put that all on Rivera. We go out now and get a different coach it is another 2+ years of new schemes and learning for this young team before we can be anything good. Unless its a well known PROVEN coach like a Cowher why not give Rivera one more chance.

And let the flaming ensue...

how come I feel I've read these comments somewhere before...

You have...

Fans have been using these excuses for Fox and Hurney (Constant excuses i.e. Hurney Magic) in the past. Even Delhomme (After 2008 playoffs). The whole "He's not totally bad" BS I've become accustomed to as a Panther fan poster on this board.

But...I believe Rivera should get a chance IF we go 7-9. I highly doubt we'll beat the Saints in the dome though. Also, I don't want to be stuck in another situation where we hold on to someone too long..Ideally, I want a new young GM and a new young HC

With a new GM on the way lets go ahead and do full remodel in the front office. I never wanted to have to turn on RIvera and was immediately on his bandwagon when we hired him. Unfortunately things have not worked out as expected or Hurney never would have been fired.

His misuse of timeouts, his enablement of costly play calling on both sides of the ball and the thing that matters the most, winning he's not very good at has been well documented on the huddle.

Below are some facts I have mentioned before and I don't see how anyone knowing this and having a new GM coming in would want to keep him.

Coaches with less or same amount of time with same team in head to head match ups with Rivera.

In 2011

Munchack beat him his 1st year

Frazier beat him his 1st year

In 2012(Riveras 2nd year)

Schiano beat him twice his first year with Tampa

Fox beat him in his 2nd year with Denver

Garrett beat him in his 2nd year with Dallas

The only rookie head coach he has beat was New Orleans Interim's Interim head coach.

The above record against coaches with the same or less amount of time with their own club's really diffuses the whole he just needs more time argument.

He is 3-19 against teams with a winning record this season or finished last year with a winning record.

0-7 this year in games decided by a td or less. 1-12 overall in such games.

Does anyone want to argue we are even in close games due to his brilliant coaching?

Last year he started off 2-8 just like this year and finished the season 4-2. We are on pace to finish the same as last year and mostly winning against teams with a losing record like us. Last year he fooled me with his late surge but not this time around.
