What signs of brilliance has Ron exhibited in the last two years exactly?

Our teams were less well prepared than the opposition going into every game for the first half of this season, other than for the coachless Saints.

It seems the only reason our "offensive" offensive approach was changed was because JR had a "Come to Jesus" meeting with Ron after Marty was terminated.

Ron did not show any intention of changing his approach prior to that event. Quick on the uptake, Ron is not.

Nice guy, given time, Ron might eventually become an average Head Coach.

No reason, based on what we have seen so far, to expect anything more than that.

We shat the bed early and were eliminated from playoff contention by week 10. And you want that guy steering the ship for another year? I don't care how we finish the season. These wins against mediocre teams with the pressure of a playoff push long forgotton mean nothing.

What I fear is for JR to sense the RR is trending upwards after winning out this season, Ron stays, then he goes back to playing "safe ball" next season when the games start to matter again... then we are yet another year from seeing any improvement.

I was looking forward to this season more than ever before and to have to endure this disappointment again next season would be too much!

I fear subjecting our young, developing QB to his fourth offense in five years. I fear being too hasty in making a decision and losing a guy that the players obviously respect and has shown that he can get them to play well. I fear a lack of patience at the HC spot will only hold the team back as we develop a revolving door with our staffs.

I actually think we'll beat the Raiders and then lose to the Saints. Even if that is the case I think Rivera should be given another season.

Not to mention, Rivera wasn't on the field trying to pressure or disrupt Brady Quinn. Fact is, they played a very inspired game in the wake of a tragedy and played almost flawlessly. Brady Quinn included. I'm more impressed with what we did against RGIII, Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler, Tony Romo than I am worried about what happened at KC.

Anyone who thinks that all that matters is whether we go 7-9 versus 6-10 and that one game makes all the difference is naive and that is being kind because it is the holidays. As I said, overall record and wins and losses are the only stat that matters but 1 win either way is really not a big deal. And no that isn't contradictory. A team that is 6-10 or 7-9 are frankly both losing squads. Both records show you lost more than you won. And a team that is 11-5 is a better team based on the season. Could a better team lose to a worse team on any given Sunday, yes. But lets be real here, are we a better team than Atlanta because we beat them the last time we played them?? The answer is no. We were better that day but overall they are much better.

As for how does Richardson and the GM, when they are hired, decide what to do with Rivera? They have to make decisions based on who is going to be the best going forward. Coaches get fired not because their team won or lost a certain amount of games but based on whether they are best guy for the job moving forward or whether a change is needed.

I don't think wins and losses matter at this point.

Rivera and his staff (OC and DC particularly) have all shown huge improvements in the last couple of games. Offense is handing the ball to RBs more and Defense is playing more aggressive with CBs - maybe Norman was the problem there. STs looks a lot better too, but that probably has more to do with our new kicker - Gano. He would have been huge against CHI.

But with that being said, Rivera should interview for his job and the new GM picks the best man for HC. Rivera should have to explain the slow start and what was done to cause this new improved play. If the answer is, the guys are stepping up, then he shouldn't be retained. What did he do to directly impact improvement?

So if that happens then he gets fired next year and we move on. Look at all the first year records of new coaches. Sure we can find a few who were instantly successful but for the most part they waited until year 2 or later to win more than they lost. If we make a change we are likely to have a losing record anyway. The reality is that keeping the same system and coach are more likely to produce a winning season than making a change if the main criteria is simple next year.

I don't think that Ron is anywhere near a top talent coach and I don't think he's got the stuff to be one either. Against good coaches he get's beat badly and can't seem to adapt to the circumstances.

As for Cam learning a new system, I have no worries. He's been able to excel in any offense he is given, hands down. There's also a good possibility that a new coach would stick to the Air Corryell, especially if that HC was named Bill..

Using that logic the choker was Newton. He was the one who had the first down on third down and fumbled it backwards so there was even a 4th down. He threw the pick 6 against Chicago that let them back in the game (Yeah I know Smitty fell down), and he was the one that couldn't pick up a first down against Tampa which allowed them to get the ball back to score at the end.

So are we going to get a new quarterback or is your logic flawed??
