Rivera has brainwashed you guys.

Some people accept Rivera's inexperience and falsely assume he has learned from his mistakes, but no one knows how many more rookie mistakes RR has yet to spawn upon us. A couple of wins against mediocre teams does not spare us from MORE slow starts, MORE poor coaching decisions, MORE poor personnel decisions or MORE poor play-calling and poor player motivation. The only thing that shows improvement is wins and by that count, Rivera is a loser! Still willing to gamble the next season with more of the same?

Well, obviously we don't think we will get MORE of the same, but if we do get MORE of the same, then Rivera won't likely last one month, much less a season. But, yes, provided we win at least 1 more this year and look game (even in a loss), I would be willing to gamble next season for MORE of the same type of winning that we've had the last month.

What if we get the next big thing and get MORE poor and/or disjointed play due to personnel learning a new system (especially Cam)? The team is still young, and a change in the midst of a team finally getting it and gelling could bring undesired results.

Rivera has more football knowledge in his little finger than 90% of the people on this board.

I hate it when I see this type argument.

Most people have little expertise in public administration or foreign policy, yet they elect our presidents.

Putting the example on a more basic level, you probably don't know anything about carpentry, but I'll bet you could still recognize a poorly made cabinet or piece of furniture.

Look, man, Rivera is still a relatively new HC. He had to learn and settle into the job. He had to realize that he is the man, period. It's a transition. The light doesn't come on for all people at the same time. I don't care if it was the cold hard reality of jobs being on the line that lit a fire up under the man. We are winning now, and (unlike last year) I believe we have really gotten over a hump because it truly has been a trial by fire (or a trial to stop from being fired). Rivera, the young coaching staff and team are that more seasoned and experienced, and realize what it takes to win with consistency because of getting drunk off unexpected "success", and then suffering failure due to unrealistic expectations. It's all a process. There had to be a realization, then self-actualization, and now we are hopefully seeing the maturation of not only Rivera, but Chud, Derm, individual players, and the team as a whole.

Do you really want to risk breaking that continuity when we are seeing real promise after everyone coming to their senses and learning what it takes to truly compete at a top level?

We are close, people. I am thinking that a coaching change sets us back for at least three years. The relatively small risk of giving Chico a third year is worth the possible reward in my opinion.

What are we risking if get another coach? You guys act like we have put back to back winning season together. Yeah we are winning now but look at the teams we have beat with our 5-9 record. You guys better stop drinking the kool aid because you will be very disappointed next year when we see the same old BS we have seen the past year and a half.

You can say what you want in till you turn blue in the face and that is not going to change the fact from what me and a lot of others have seen from this team and from Rivera. The guy can not get it done.

How many coaches have taken over a 2-14 team and turned it into a winner in two years?

Of course you know about Fox taking a 1-15 team to the Super Bowl in his 2nd year.

Parcells took the phins from 1-15 to 11-5 in 1 season.

Hell Raheem Morris took the Bucs from 3-13 to 10-6 within 2 years.

Mike Smith took inherited a 4-12 Falcons and got them to 11-5 and a consistent winner ever since.

Sean Payton took over the 3-13 saints and got them to 10-6 and the nfc championship in his first year and made them a consistent winner.

Bruce Arians is taking last years worst team who were also 2-14 and has them sitting at 9-5 as an interim head coach.

All of that has happened in recent history and by every team in the NFC South

Some people also want to place the blame on players for not making single game changing plays but on the flip side if Rivera had made better coaching decisions it would not have come down to just one play.

Under Rivera we are 0-7 in games decided by a touchdown or less this year and 1-12 overall in close games. He waste time outs as bad as any coach I have ever seen.He allowed Chud to cripple our offensive weapons at the beginning of the season. I just have not seen enough from him to inspire me to want to keep him and I am sure a new gm won't either.

Why can't some of you guys realize that the fire was lit because "JOBS" are on the line. Rivera hasn't shown any type of improvement from last year to this year. The only improvement I have seen is the improvement on the defensive side of the ball. Why can't you guys realize what happen to get us to this point? First we start off out the gate slow, we come out unmotivated and undisciplined. On top of all that we changed our whole entire offense. I wonder who let Chud do that?

Rivera is not the right guy to lead this team to success. At best, I believe we will be mediocre year in and year out with this guy running the team. The funny part about this when things got really intense during the season he didn't even stand up in front of the media and take the shots that Cam got. That's not a leader. The only time this guy can win is at the end of the season when we're not even in playoff contention anymore.

I done seen more then enough to know that what we been getting is all we are going to get with this guy. If Rivera remain as HC I will support him with no problem. I'm a Panthers fan. If he is retained lets hope his team doesn't wait into the end of the season and start to win.

Lets see how the rest of the season plays out.He has made some mistakes and he has made some improvements( defense).Jr has already laid it out to him...he wants the team to be trending up at the end of the season as a whole body of work.

Going through multiple coaches in a short amount of time has not proven to be a productive methodology if it can be avoided.

You say we have not improved and I disagree.During the Fox era I never remember seeing young late round talent improve as much as I have seen from some of these young defensive players ie Hardy,JThomas,BBell,DCampbell, JNorman. If these guys can fill roster spots then that allows us more opportunities to draft other play makers.

I think that watching Cam last year put unrealistic expectations in the minds of everyone.I can not explain why Rivera allowed Chud to coach the way he did this season but in short that can be corrected.Looking at the stable of coaches I see very few that would either want to come here or that I would want. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

Jobs are always on the line in the NFL.I am sure jobs were on the line in SD....did they play like it?

What do I know? But, I agree with the fact that the team seems to be "getting it" and the Offense seems to be "moving". The Defense is on fire.

I dunno about anyone else, but something besides the players say'n "Screw this, let's just win!" has happened.

And that, to me, comes down to coaching. (late yes... but hear me out)

If it's because the players want to keep RR, or because they want to keep their Jobs, and in the process keep a consistency in the clubhouse. So be it.

If the the Panthers come out at the end of the season and Sweep the Saints, get swept by the new look Bucs, and Split with the league leading Falcons... Division wise, I'd say for a sad sack, sorry looking team. That's pretty dam good.

Now granted, the Saints aren't the Saints they were last season. And for good reason.

The Bucs are young and ready to rumble. And the Falcons, whether it's luck or pure talent, have done their whole "rise up" thing.

The Panthers have shown down the stretch, after all the "boo hoo'n" Cam was being blamed for in interviews... Coaching issues with not going for things when they should or playing scared (not to lose), but losing anyway... Or completely fuging up the offensive play calling... as a team they seem to have righted the ship. (The best they can, missing 14 players since 9/1/12 being put on IR. Not all starters but all contributors.)

It seems that they are doing this with YOUNG, UNPROVEN players that are playing well enough to make an impact. No name players... Named players getting a second chance(or 3rd). Hell, we have players that haven't even been given a dam shot yet, that we know can produce from past experience. (EX: Gettis)

I'm not advocating that RR is perfect. And you can't go off all the other coaches (listed above) and what they have done, because not all of them got their first head coaching job in a year when they almost didn't play. Had a whole new scheme to put in while playing the season. Having cap issues so you can't get top tier talent and then in the second season have hand the Offense to the OC to make sure the Defense (which was largely the reason for failure last season) step up... and having the OC fall up his own ass.

I'm not sure I want the team to "start over" again... but in the current outlook it seems that will be the case. And if not... will we have a GMless team for the next season? Or a yes man at GM?

I'm not sure Pat Y. was to far off if RR stays (about Beane). But if he doesn't... here's hope'n they pick up a couple magicians.

As I've said many times it will come down to who else is realistically available. If we finish strong I'll take RR another year if we can't get a proven head coach. I am not wild about promoting another coordinator.

Good point! As I was looking through the candidates it wasn't like someone really grabbed my attention that would want the job here.
