our players are not known for giving up on their coach. they are high in morale, which is a good attribute to have.

this does not mean Rivera should automatically be granted another year.

In the immediate context, I remember thinking he was calling out Godfrey and Martin.

My mistake it was not a tweet, appears it was a comment to a reporter on the morning of the firing.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me. Where does he mention players?

In those comments, he doesn't. Based on more recent comments though I'd say he's changed his tune.

i can think of worse options than rivera, tho still not ideal imo. mike mccoy for starters.

there is a decent chance a new GM is brought in and allowed to make the choice on whether to keep Rivera or not.

if rivera wins out, it would be hard for JR to fire him.
