Players haven't quit on "Their Coach"

It's a real quandary.

I absolutely love how our defense has progressed from last year, and Ron is certainly deserving of his share of the credit for that. On the other side of the ball, he deserves a solid thrashing for letting that early season mess continue too long.

Leave it up to the new GM (and please, don't let it be Beane).

Unfortunately I bet anything its Beane. This is how I see it going down. Beane will be more of the cap guy and be the new GM. Rivera will be given power to draft who he wants and signs who he wants. JR will just tell Rivera he can sign whoever the hell he wants aslong as cap allows it and they dont jave any major off field issues

It's weird though because when Hurney was fired, CJ sounded like he was hoping for it to be coaches. At the time, I thought he meant Rivera, but in hindsight, I believe it may have been Chud.

That's a valid argument only if they're responding to questions. When they volunteer such statements on their own without prompting, then it's genuine.

One thing I notice though. All the guys you see speaking out are on the defensive side of the ball. What do the guys on offense think?

I could see this playing out, but it would be a major mistake in my opinion.

JR needs to make decisions with more than a 1 year horizon. If Rivera/Beane do not succeed early, what does JR do then? Accept another wasted year just to be in the same position we're in now?

If JR has doubts about Ron, the best thing to do is go in a different direction now.

Exactly. With all the highly qualified candidates out there for GM, us just picking Beane would be a cop out. I just wouldnt understand it

It seems to me that the players who want Rivera to stay are making it known. Those that don't are not saying much and that is what you would expect. Not everyone wants him but honestly until I see the other choices who knows if it will be better or worse. What I do see right now is a team that is clicking on all cylinders. Who knows if we would be still winning if these were meaningful games. But we are playing now like I thought we would all year. I am still waiting to see how we finish out but I am leaning toward keeping the staff for at least 1 more year.

I think it's sad how some people on here hate Rivera so much that they've fooled themselves into thinking our players are just putting up a front. It's been an ugly season, but why would our players hate the person responsible for bringing the best out of them? How delusional can you guys get?

That is never a valid reason to keep a coach. Players are never going to quit on a coach at least not as a collective unit. They know they can be cut at anytime. Also usually the coach in question is the one that drafted/signed them. They are paid to play not make decisions.
