NFL corners tackle in the open field and they can cover in man to man. If you think Norman has outplayed Thomas, go back and watch them again on the replay taking note of just these two things and then you'll realize that its not very close. Norman was decent in those catagories given his situation but Thomas is playing like an animal.

THAT is the hardest position in football to play imo, if you wanna be a bear. . .you better BE A GRiZZLEH!

The jawing that went on on the sidelines has lead me to believe he was told not to give as much cushion and it appears he has refused to listen. DJ and Thomas have been nice additions and if we play well these last two games it will be pretty clear that Norman will have to do some major improving to get his job back next year, regardless of head coach.

He's one of the worst CB's in the NFL objectively speaking. He's simply not very good. I don't know where all the love for him has come from. I'd love for him to be good but the guy's taking over for him are just better at this point.

You must be watching someone else, other than being too soft off the line he's played well. He's a good tackler, finds and plays the ball well and holds his own in coverage once that fat is closed.

The old doghouse theory just does't hold water most of the time. Players are graded on every play every week in games and in practice. If a guy isn't playing it is because he is not grading out the best at hat position, plain and simple. Norman was playing ff his man and making mistakes. Since he was benched the secondary has improved. Frankly the guys who have come in are hungry and aggressive. They deserve to play over Norman.

In most cases I'd agree with you, but I think the Rivera doghouse is a very real thing. We've seen it undeniably proven with Goodson and Gettis and to a lesser extent Adams and now Norman. IF Norman's soft coverage is not what he's been told to do then he absolutely deserves to be benched in order to evaluate other guys.

But there's absolutely no reason for Gettis to have gotten as little time as he has. At the very worst he's still a bit rusty and maybe not quite in game shape. Still, Gettis under those conditions still should be given the playing time over AE.

Adams deserved a little time to work on the minor fumbling problem but Jesus H Christ it was just two whiffed/fumbled returns. I can't believe that it took that freaking long for him to fix that problem. And even if so, he also deserved the offensive reps over AE. In the few times he has been involved in plays he's looked a lot better and more comfortable than AE. The only thing AE has done that's been worth a poo in all his time here is get forgotten on that one play earlier this year. And even then after he made the wide open catch he was slow as hell and had no moves. Adams or Gettis woulda taken that pass to the house.

He's played well, but he also has a year in the league under his belt. I'm actually happy with our CB's. Only person in the secondary I just want gone is Nakamura, or make him the back up and a key ST'er, since that's his supposed strength.

week 17 will be a good game to judge these young CBs. Norman was a meh player, who made rookie mistakes. the way you learn from those is by coaching him up and game experience. if he was getting that and still making those mistakes than the benching is understandable, but also since it was the same mistake he made since week 1 he should have been benched.

Nothing you said proved any of that. Goodson fumbled the ball too much and we had better guys to do the job. We haven't missed him one bit. And Gettis isn't playing because the coaches think that right now other guys give them a better chance to make plays based on what they see in practice every day. Give me one example where Gettis has outplayed other guys and is purposely being held back. There aren't any.

Adams is playing now and you know why?? Because based on practice and his work in games he obviously has cleaned up the fumbling problem. Plus they tried some other guys in there like Munnerlyn and Edwards and they feel that Adams is the best guy for the job.

No coach who is desperate for wins will avoid put the best players out there for some personal vendetta or just because they are angry at them for something they did in the past. If what you mean by doghouse is that players who continue to demonstrate issues and are not the best graded guys on film that week don't play that week, then yeah he probably does put guys in the doghouse.
