Ron Rivera Should be Given a 3rd Year

Finishing strong was nice, but why start winning once the schedule gets soft and the games no longer matter? I'm not buying it.

Everyone is forgetting we were one of the worst teams in the league and it took 10 + games before the coaches decided to make changes. What are the people that want him back going to say when we start sucking again when the season begins next season? I don't trust this coaching staff enough to give them another year.

Like it or not, I think the odds of it happening are getting better.

There's a lot involved in changing coaching staffs. Replace him and you force Newton to start over from scratch. Even if it's a similar system, you still have to expect some adjustment. And that comes just as Newton seems to be hitting his stride with the new system.

My guess at this point is that Rivera will get a third year. It'll likely be considered an 'audition' season.

And I can live with that.

If we're going to make keeping the losing coach a job stipulation for the new GM you may as well just promote a company man who can run the numbers like Beane and be done with it.

Thus far he's done a fairly good job, and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if J.R. gave him the job because he would definitely be cheaper than most and definitely cheaper than Ross.
