Steve Smith will hit 1k yards for 7th time in a season

Irvin didn't play in the passing era....that is what hurts Smith going forward.

Irvin numbers minus rings.....in the passing era... is not a HOF resume

The Hall always inducts players based on their time period and peers. Bob Hayes just got in 3 years ago with 7k receiving yards. Induction can take decades.

Irvin played untill 1999, Smitty started year 2000.

Time will tell.

My point....you can't compare Smitty to Irvin. Smitty is playing the bulk of his career in the passing era. Irvin is from a much different era.

So Irvin numbers for Smith minus rings....isn't a HOF resume.

Agreed.

But I think it's reasonable to assume Smitty will be top 10 on this list:

When his career is done. Quite an accomplishment in any era and potentially HOF worthy.

That's all I'm suggesting.

Maybe....he won't be on it long though. So temporarily being in the top 10 yardage for a couple years really isn't that strong of a resume either

Tough crowd.

Well I see Fitz, Andre Johnson and Wade being there with Smitty during the era Smitty will have played in.

That is some high rent company, let the chips fall where they may.
