Gio to Panthers thread on IC

Gio is insanely good. His only problem is he is constantly injured. He got hurt in almost every game in college and missed a lot of games. If he got that beat up in the ACC, I can't imagine how is body will hold up in the NFL.

Yeah he was insanely good in the ACC,that isn't really impressive,I could see if he was doing it in the SEC.He look like he could be a good 3rd down back in the NFL,I don't really see him as anything special especially to draft him in the 2nd round.

The argument that he played in the ACC, so he is going to be nothing more than a third down running back is ludicrous and ridiculous. Chris Johnson and Alfred Morris played in the CUSA and are capable starters at the running back position. Gio is a great talent; he has speed, agility, and great elusiveness. The problem for Gio will be staying on the field consistently. He could become a good every down back if he can stay healthy, if not; he could easily be a Darren Sproles type of player (similar player). Regardless, it won't be here in Carolina even if D-Will is given his walking papers.

Gio is beast mode, we just have way too many other needs. I think this fanbase might legitimately riot if we took yet another RB high in the draft and for good reason. No way we take him in the 1st and he won't be there when we draft in the 2cd. If he makes it to their pick, the Packers would be nuts not to take him. Gio in that offense would be downright scary.

    • Canales was brought in to fix Bryce. That was how he sold himself. He failed.  the panthers need a new qb, someone to coach him, and someone to build a defensive staff.  Canales has failed at developing a new qb. His big draft project XL is trending towards bust. His entire nfl resume before the panthers was one season as offensive coordinator on a stacked Bucs team, and being on the offensive staff when a 31 year old Geno smith finally put it all together. And he didn’t even pick his offensive coordinator. Assuming evero is gone, who’s he got in that phone to call? What low lvl porn addict evangelical from the bucs is ready to be Peter principled? There is nothing in his coaching history or his current performance that indicates he’s the person to move this team forward. Every other team knew this last cycle (panthers were only interview) and nothing has happened to change that perception   all people like you have is “well you can’t do it again it’s too soon but <random interval of time> will be different.  just pull off the bandage. There’s no reason to let this guy draft “his guy” except people wanting an excuse not to fire him after 2025.
    • Both Reich and Canales were saddled with trying to build and establish a viable scoring offense around Bryce Young. The best the offense looked this season and last season was with Andy Dalton who is also terrible but still better than Bryce Young. Which should be all anyone needs to know but still somehow there are weirdos here salivating over a ceiling of maybe on a really good day the 25th best QB in the league. We've already canned one entire staff over our first overall pick. You can fire everyone again to satisfy your need for vengeance and quickly come to the realization that your next hire will absolutely unequivocally be a downgrade yes man or you can blow up this QB room and then assess. If no progress next season then you can make changes and justifiably so.
    • Surprised this is the only post with this take.  This is like the Rhule kiss of death lol.
