Yasinkas: NFC South QB rankings

Recommended Posts

What I said was: ''lol at panther fans making themselves feel better about Jake.'' The people in the thread that are pinning the Saints 4th Q struggles 100% on Brees are doing that.

Again, I am not making myself feel better about Jake, that's for sure.

Brees is better than Jake no question, but he is not the no. three QB in the league that the media pushes on us. At least not in my book.

Matt Ryan is overblown by the media.

Drew Brees was within 14 yards of breaking the ALL-TIME single season record for yards in a season... that is one of those "BIG" records

He is one of two people in the history of the game to throw for over 5000... yet he still gets less media attention than Tony Romo and Matt Ryan. Overrated and overblown? nahhh

I totally agree with you that Romo and Ryan eat up the media, but Brees is right up there as well. In fact the reason that he is, is because of the massive amount of yards he put up last season.

Again, calm down Saints fans, I am not saying that Brees is not good, just that his is not tops in my book.

Who's better besides Brady and Manning?

The difference is... Brees has statistically been the best QB in the league over the past 3 years (top 2 or 3 at worst)...

You can't act like putting up 5000 yards is not a great feat... the guy dominated in just about every passing category there is!

Yeah but most of those interceptions came because he was forced to throw because our fuging defense was getting beat like it stole something. We couldnt run the ball because well we really didnt have a healthy running back and the coach refused to commit to the run anyway. Any time a Qb has to throw as many times as Brees did they are going to have interceptions. There were several games like the Broncos game where Brees brought us back from a huge deficit, only for the game to be lost by a missed FG or some blatent mistake by our defense. Dude Brees is the best QB in the NFC S and its not even close.

I did not quibble with his being ranked #1 in the NFC South. You might have missed that post of mine though, not sure. Any QB who has to play from behind and has no run game will likely make more errors. I don't debate that. I never blame a QB for the performance of his defense either unless he is putting them in bad spots a lot. I am not trying to say that Brees is responsible in any way for the losses in the 4th when the D gives up the lead, not at all. But his 4th qtr #s don't have anything to do with W-L and to me, they don't lie. Some excel more in those situations than others and some get no kind of break for those circumstances. I think Brees gets too much of a pass for that area (late game play) for a guy people want to crown as elite. Not all QBs who throw that much have that high of an INT % either. I guess my point is more that he isn't ELITE not that he isn't a good QB.

You are the first Saints fan who actually admits that he throws some WTF passes though. Seems to be the short ones that he always lofts too high from what I have seen. Didn't Deuce eff up his knee going for one of those?

Who did that? Of course it isn't all him. Fact of the matter though is that his ratings in those situations have been like that over his whole career (lower than his overall rating), not just in NO.

Give Brees that Pittsburgh defense and running game and he wins a SB...

Maybe. Maybe not.

While I think that stat wise Brees is better than Ben, I just prefer him over Brees for other reasons.

And I really do not like Ben.

I'm a loyal Panther Fan but I must say this I would Kill too have Brees being realistic. I would probably kill Jake if it meant we could have Brees. Just being real. This is a stupid conversation some of us need too take off the Black & Blue shades and come into the real world.

Really.. Rivers?

Without question. I will admit to being a fan of Rivers, and there are days where I would rather have him leading my team moreso than any other QB in the league.

We can nit pick every player, I just like Brady and Rivers the most. With Ben and Manning coming in right after that...followed by Warner and Brees.

I hear you fuzz about BR. I don't like him much myself personality wise (I think he is a drama queen and a bit of a baby) but he has usually been an efficient QB.

I have no issue with Brees as a human being at all and I am not exactly a personal fan of Rivers because I thing he does some punky things but there's no way I take Brees over Rivers. NO WAY.

Rivers has gotten a bad name for his mouth, and while I don't like it, it's not like he is D Hall here.

Me either. I think that the two best leaders in the league right now are Brady and Rivers, hands down.

Ben is not my favorite person, but he does seem to play within himself and knows what is expected of him. His D is what put rings on his fingers, but he does not try to do more than what he is call upon to do.
