Andy Reid: No interest in taking a year off..

Andy's always had a great record, but Cam needs a more conservative approach when it comes to passing the ball. The worry is that Andy will make him air it out and pass it 50 times a game which is what he did with Vick and now doing it with Foles and Cam Newton shouldn't average more than 25 passing attempts per game with his int%.

I like the fact he believes in passing the ball. I hate the fact he is so stubborn he insists on passing so much with inefficient quarterbacks to the detriment of his team.

Then he expects his defense to win games when they have to deal with a -2 turnover margin. His firing of the defensive coordinator only proved to be a scapegoat, when the problem was Vick's turnovers all along. Defense got worse after he fired him. He should have started Foles much sooner. Now he's got his rookie passing 50 times a game without McCoy, without Jackson, without Maclin.

I just think Andy's lost perspective. It's just not a sound, winning, strategy. He needs an accurate, pocket passer(Brees!) to run the type of offense he likes or he's going to have to adjust, but so far his stubbornness tells me he won't.

lol you'd rather hire a guy that took 14 seasons to win a superbowl and hasn't been in the league in 6 years but you don't want Andy Reid

Not to mention that Cowher had most of those Division titles when the AFC North was Gid Awful.

Tomlin has had as much if not more success in his short time in Pitt. The Sterlers success is because if LeBeau...not Cowher or Tomlin.

Sometimes a coach in a new environment and a fresh start works wonders.

Exactly.

I am not against Cowher coming here. Just showing that being all over his jock and dismissing Reid is ridiculous.

Should be interesting to see which direction Richardson goes with this search.

You all have experience the same phenomenon I think. Its like when you have the same car for 10 years. It seems like you take good care of it, wash it once in a while, etc. But when you get a new car, you REALLY take care of it and realize how little time you spent on the old.

I wouldn't have a problem with Andy Reid. He isn't too terribly pass heavy. RBs in his system still were a big part of his offense. Brian Westbrook, Duce Staley, and LeSean McCoy still got their touches and were keys to their offense. Hell even right now, Brown is getting his yardage, even though he has trouble holding on to the ball.

Just so we have some facts here.

Dick Lebeau was the Defensive Coordinator for the Steelers during BILL Cowher's 15 year tenure in Pittsburgh a total of 5 years during two stints with the Steelers.

Also in the AFC North, what is the difference between being 7-9 or 9-7 every year?

Getting your ass beat by the Steelers twice annually. I've never blamed a Head Coach for regularly beating their Division opponents and/or defending your Home Field as it should be.,

You COMPLETELY missed my point.

Cowher's success in Pittsburgh has been similar to Reid's success in Philadelphia.

I am not saying I am for or against either one of them as a potential head coach....both would be good candidates.

My point was that being all over Cowher while dismissing Reid is ridiculous.

Also....go back and look at how bad the AFC North was the first 10 or so years of Cowher's tenure. This was before Baltimore becasue a real threat....and the Browns/Bengals sucked. Kind of like talking about how great Seattle was because they kept winning the NFC West.

I am not saying I am for or against either one of them as a potential head coach....both would be good candidates.

I know he's not a trendy pick, but I'd love to grab Reid if he still wants to coach. While the Eagles never won the SB, they were a dominant team in a tough division for quite a few years. Pair him with a sharp GM and DC and I think he'd really do a good job.

The only way we'd been in the running is if he wants away from the big market, though.

I'm pretty sure we're using west coast offense verbiage, that's why the line struggled initially last year.

i was pretty sure they were using coryell, but i think where the confusion is is that the coryell was the original west coast offense and many of the old guys from the coryell still refer to it as that. the WCO that is mostly thought of by people is the walsh one, not the coryell.

when they said they were running a WCO, they meant what was more commonly known as the coryell because that's where chud and turner come from.

the two verbiages are very different. the coryell is number based and the WCO is just a collection of...i don't know...everything including the kitchen sink. every person's responsibility and every part of the play is laid out in detail. they give the formation, blocking scheme, backfield responsibilities, motion, snap count, etc...each thing has it's own word or number associated with it. teams that still use the WCO are starting to realize that you don't need all that and are switching to a much quicker streamlined verbiage....many times using just one word.

in fact that is pretty much what is being done with most offenses, the are scrapping the lengthy verbiage for their systems in favor of very quick one word play calls that each person will know their responsibility without having to hear everyone else's. which is funny because wasn't that one of the things that cam was criticized for...not being in an offense that had more traditional offensive verbiage and instead had really simple one or two word playcalls without using the huddle? now the league is trending that way.

Andy Reid..makes John Fox press conferences look informative..just throwing that out there. Plus the first thing he would do is cut Steve Smith since he hates having players in their mid 30's.

People thought "It is what it is" was annoying with Fox. Just wait until they hear "I have to do a better job of putting guys in position to make plays." as the answer to each and every question asked. It's his way of mocking the media.

Reporter: "McCoy sustained a concussion in last weeks game, how long to you expect him to be out?"

Reid: "I have to do a better job of putting guys in position to make plays."

Reporter: "Geno's or Pat's Andy?"

Reid: "I have to do a better job of putting guys in position to make plays but they are both delicious."

Doesn't matter, Andy is headed "home" to San Diego if they finally wake up and get rid of Turner. At least that's where I hope he winds up. Go out there with Rivers and Ryan Matthews and turn that team back into a contender again. Time for him to go in Philly, but I think he will have success wherever he winds up.
