Let me get this straight! Most of you guys will say yes to a coach in college with a gimmick offense just because billicheat asked him what color pants to where in London?

However, we get a big "Fug NO" to an established NFL coach that has been to the Playoffs 9 out of 14 seasons and has a winning record? The Huddle has gone full idiot!

Give him Marc Ross and keep him out of the defensive side of the ball and we are golden! Cam is everything Andy wished Donovan was in his 4 years of glory!

as if he would run the exact same system with cam, like he wouldn't know how to run a modified offense that incorporates short passing...

why am i saying this... well look at washington. they're not running the same exact scheme with shanahan that he ran in denver

i know and i know they switched to a spread to accommodate vick, but i'm not sure how happy he's been with that and if he'd be willing to switch again.

i just don't want a coach that's been around forever. i want someone a bit fresher and who's tendencies aren't as well known.

And some of the same people who say they do not want a WCO have in fact complained about Chud calling plays that require more time for routes to develop than the OL has given. I wouldn't mind seeing a more systematic approach as the Panthers spread the field horizontally to open up deeper passes...

We've already been utilizing our backs in a fashion that would become more beneficial in a west coast scheme than the read-option.. Stewart, at least, would excel as a much more dangerous weapon..

thats not the problem with the wco and not why its being abandoned by so many teams and why so few teams even bother with it anymore.

its verbiage is incredibly complicated and lengthy, much moreso than any other system and the system itself is known to be more complex than any other and is known to take several years to grasp for WRs and esp. QBs.

it requires super precise and exact routes from receivers with no margin for error, its heavily scripted in the first part of the game and allows for very little deviation. adjustments at the line dont really happen and the QB is pretty much completely at the control of the OC.

sure, the ball gets out of the hands of the QB quicker, but it requires perfection from everyone...and by that i mean perfect adherence to the commands of the OC in small tight areas with a lot of moving parts.

theres just so many things about it that make it unattractive to teams, and it isn't even all that effective anymore compared to other systems being used. theres just really very little incentive to use it anymore. rule changes protecting the passing game, esp. big plays and throws 15+ yards, and the emergence of the spread is making it obsolete.

football concepts are ever changing and we aren't exactly talking about all the downsides that come with the Paul Brown or Bill Walsh approach.

On one hand, we can talk about the timing routes, terminology, and the more methodical/lack of scoring... While also pointing out Reid's more recent offense with Vick under center and his speedy receivers now gets criticized for trying to throw deep often and taking too long for plays to develop.. Or in other words, attacking vertically and hitting seams instead of horizontally and quick timing routes..

one could assume Reid doesn't like that version as much as the traditional WCO, but he has certainly put in an over-haul in his personnel to run that philosophy so I can only assume he is perfectly willing to adapt. It has been explosive, he just needs an OL and a Cam Newton wouldn't hurt either over a Michael Vick.

And the evidence isn't just with Vick under center, it's Jackson and Maclin, and stretching the field vertically.. Also in the fact that there are plenty of games where McCoy doesn't really see the ball until the 4th quarter, a dramatic change from Westbrook being the center of the offense...

While philosophies are ever changing, there are a few that will always be the same... One is take what the defense is giving you where calling for mesh concepts, slants, and Hi-Lo reads when the defense is trying to stop the deep ball is one Andy Reid should be able to implement if he could trust his QB to read a defense and/or read his progressions (unlike with Vick)..

At the moment, his offense seems quite similar to what the panthers are running now, or at least is gaining a lot of the same criticisms..

With that said, I think there is a happy medium between both. Maybe calling what I'd like to see on Sundays the "west coast offense" isn't entirely accurate.. A mesh of concepts based on spreading the field and attacking both vertically and horizontally is an approach that we are not seeing and acquiring someone who understands this will keep defenses on their heels.. And letting Stewart do his damage as a change of pace whether it be draws, screens, or dive plays instead of running the read-option more than 4 times a game..

I don't think it's accurate to assume Reid is ONLY going to run a traditional, old school WCO.. He isn't now, and I have to assume at this point he's smart enough to see the benefits and ability to mesh them both.

Will he? Hell, I'm not saying Andy Reid should be a top prospect for the Panthers... But he has been an extremely successful coach at the NFL level. That cannot be denied.

Most people hated Foxy's lack of emotion and "it is what it is" response in most pressers. Imagine if we had Andy Reid... It would be worse than Fox! Instead of saying "it is what it is", it would be "I accept responsibility for our performance today and thats my fault" while refusing to make in game adjustments or attempting to run the ball. It would be absolutely maddening, some of you guys would be contemplating suicide.

I understand that the Iggles season is over but their performance week after week is embarrassing and Andy's refusal to bench guys just makes him look even worse. I wonder if front offices around the league are taking note of his "fugg it" attitude. Dosent matter how good of a coach you are if you cant motivate and get the respect of your players. Im sure he is a good man, but damn Andy, grow some balls. The Eagles look like a blooper reel and he just walks around and pats guys on the helmet when they come off the field after fuggin up. SMH...
