WOW, the Chargers game could have HUGE draft implications.

Here are some draft comparisons:

I aimed for #5, #10 and #15 but moved around if there were a position we would have avoided. E.g. Blaine gabbert was #10 last year.

Probowlers are bolded

2011: #5 PAtrick Peterson, #11 JJ Watt #15 Mike Pouncy

2010: #5 Eric Berry $10 Tyson Alualu #15 Jason Pierre Paul

2009 #5 MArk Sanchez #9 BJ Raji #15 Brian Cushing

2008 #5 Glen Dorsey #10 Jerod Mayo #15 Brandon Albert

2007 #5 LEvi Brown #11 Patrick WIllis #15 Lawrence Timmons

2006 #5 AJ Hawk #12 Haloti Ngata #15 Tye Hill

2005 #5 Caddilac Williams #11 Demarcus Ware #15 Derrick Johnson

So what you're saying is that the first round of the draft is littered with impact players and picking at a later spot can still net you a stud player that can help propel your defense or offense into a better unit??? NONSENSE!!! I want lose I want number won pikk!!

I think especially when you are talking the big line guys on either side of the ball you can get a solid starter almost anywhere in the first 15 picks. If we want a DT we will be able to get one of the top 2 or 3. Same with LB, OT etc

you can get a legit stud anywhere in the draft...esp. in the first or even second round.

just saw this about a casay hayward

PFF

Rookie Casey Hayward has still yet to give up a TD. QBs throwing at him have a rating of just 30.1. Those are scary numbers.

taken in the 2nd round...pick number 62 overall.

doesn't mean that every draft pick will be a hit, but getting selected in the top 5 or even 3 is no guarantee of success, either.

just play as good as you can. try to win every game you can and then draft well....just make smart choices.

There's a reason for the trade value chart, as history has shown us. The trade value of the #5 pick over the #10 pick is a mid second round pick. The value of the #5 over the #15 is a late first. Is winning out REALLY worth a late first round pick when we're going nowhere?!

To crush the hated falcons who were playing for home field is one thing. A meaningless win over the chargers playing out the string, when it may cost us a Cam Newton, Peyton Manning, Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Von Miller, Aldon Smith, Jake Long, Joe Thomas, etc. (top 10 picks) level talent is another.

Again, not only the first round, but every round, every slot is so critical. Not only, for example, losing Ryan Clady for Jeff Otah, but losing a Sean Jones for Keary Colbert.

I want to DOMINATE the next decade! I do not want a fair fight! I want the new GM and coach to have all the assets to destroy the competition. We will not be back in the top 10 for a LONG time. I am more than willing to sacrifice a W Sunday. Play well, no injuries, and lose another=perfect.

Picking 15 instead of 5 would not be the difference between dominating the next decade or sucking

the only positive to losing would be if we were still in the running for #1 ovr, get that, and trade it for a Rams-load of additional assets. That could make up for some of the traded away picks that Hurney magic lovingly bestowed on us and would give our GM some added leeway while making roster moves. If we ain't dead last, just win baby!

Great! Even better! So a savvy GM can move from #5 to #15, get a potential probowler, AND get fair trade value equal to ANOTHER first round pick!
