This is the NFL, you face world class opponents every play and winning is not as simple as who is "playing hard"

I don't want coaches that can't coach! Rivera talked about bringing in coaches that were teachers, I don't see that throughout his staff. Granted. Our defense has looked better but there aren't enough adjustments made during the game. It bothers me that we're capable of playing at that level and don't!

Yea like half-assing your routes and not coming back to the ball, but instead letting the opponent pick it off, or waiting for your QB to do it all

You mind explaining that comment? Because I can see clearly the players getting frustrated by the play calls and in game management. This in itself makes continuity almost impossible. Just curious what it is that you see out there. Everything running smoothly i guess.

However, the team as a whole showed no continuity and a general disdain for the positions they were put in. It seems that the players are playing harder for each other and/or have little respect or confidence in the "gameplans" the coaching staff puts together each week.

Not asking you to see things my way......

I just don't blame everything on the coaches.

PS.....we all questions play calls from time to time and I'm not a big Chud fan either.

There is playing smart individually and there is playing smart as a team.

The same with playing hard.

The coaching has not helped this team do either when it counted.

Call me 'Debbie Downer' but, I don't see winning games in the 4th quarter of the NFL season that a) don't count towards a playoff berth B) aren't against a top quality team or c) is against a team that has locked up a playoff berth to be quite the same as beating: the Giants, the Broncos, the Falcons or even the Bucs, when it counted.

I love for the Panthers to win. It feels good. The players have not quit, not a all.

Sometimes the other team simply has a lot better personnel or sometimes the other team has a lot better coaching staff.

I think there are some players that need to be upgraded and I don't believe Rivera and his staff are the answer. I do not believe Rivera can compete as a HC with the top Tier coaches.

Getting a team ready to play from an intelligence and emotional perspective is on the coach. Executing is on the players. Facing execution issues, players and coach.

Can anyone not say they were truly impressed with how well the Patriots are prepared to play week in and week out? Not just Brady, but the defense? They knew what the Texans were going to do before they did it. That's intelligent coaching based on film study and tendencies. When have the Panthers done that? Ever?

That's my opinon. Others can have theirs. That said, I wish it wasn't so as who wants to start over.

Coaching a team like the Patriots who have superbowl veterans at key positions like quarterback and are used to the system is not at all analogous to taking what was a collection of rookies and backups mixed in with a few veterans in 2011 and instilling a new system on offense and defense with no prep or off-season.

Truth is that 2012 was Rivera's first year where he had the time he needed to build and prepare the team properly. And frankly except for a few collapses in some games where he couldn't control the outcome (nakamura falling down in the first Atlanta game, Newton grounding a 5 yard pass in the dirt, Nortman missing a chip shot, etc) we have been right there in every game. Four or 5 plays go our way and Rivera looks like a real solid coach.

I usually agree with you on this one I don't.

The only piece of luck for ole Bill is Brady panning out so well. Bill has also turned that team around repetitively in order to keep them competitive for a very long time.

The Patriots coach is a football genius and has the rings to prove it.

As for Rivera quoting Forest Gump, 'stupid is as stupid does'. He has been consistently out coached by better HCs.

...and my feeling, if the Panthers and Falcons were fighting to win the division, the Falcons, as much as I hate them, would have won Sunday.
