That's right, Keuchly is leading the league despite playing 103 fewer defensive snaps than the next lowest guy in the top 5 (Mayo). On top of that he started the season as an OLB where players usually get fewer tackles.

Tkl% is the percentage of snaps in which this player is the one to make the tackle. Most top ILB's are right around 15%. 19% is a huge difference.

Only one player in the top 16 had fewer snaps. That turns out to be another phenominal rookie ILB Bobby Wagner tied for 10th with 109 tackles on 637 defensive snaps for a tackle rate of 17.1%.

I included the rush attempts to show that his totals were not due to Carolina facing an absurd number of rushs. The league average "total rushing attempts defended" right now is 350. Carolina has faced just about the average amount. The extremes are 448(Jacksonville) and 257(Houston) so 360 is very close to average.
