Cam Newton silences his critics

Did anyone else notice that he started off strong when they were mixing it up with pass and run. But when they went to more of a heavy passing attack he struggled until they came back to the run?

The First half was really balanced which I like since it keeps the D on their toes. But in the third, they seem to want to pass more than run.

And heres another thing. If the run is not working all that well in a game why do we not throw more HB or WR or TE screens? Anyone?

Seems like every game he'll start 8/10, then go 2/8, then finish 9/12 to be around 60% for the game. I don't know if its Chud over thinking the play calling, Cam not recognizing the defensive adjustments, or Cam getting amped up and sailing balls high. Maybe a combination.

I personally think that at this stage of his career, the game hasn't completely slowed down for Cam yet, so he gets into mini-funks during the game where he isn't planting his feet correctly or reading the D correctly. The good thing is he seems to adjust after a couple of series. He only played one year of real college ball, and is only in year two of the pros, but I feel like he just now might be starting to turn the corner. Guys like Rodgers got to sit behind Favre for three years before getting thrown in, and Eli didnt get it down til year four or five.

So Cam had a lights out rookie year and everyone expected that to be the bar set. He's gonna be just fine, and the past 4-5 games has been his best stretch as a pro by far. He is progressing exactly as anyone should/could hope that he would.

Read the article, then the comments. Some of the ignorant comments on there boggle my mind. One guy said something referring to Cam's celebrations then said he should be more like RG3 and not act like a 5 year old. RGIII falls to the ground and raises his arms after every touchdown pass.

Didn't the NFL penalize Cam for unsportsmanlike conduct for going to the ground on a TD celebration in his very first game?

I'm pretty sure it was for going to the ground, but I think it only applies to the person that actually scored the TD, not a passer.

Newton's always been streaky, but that really shouldn't surprise folks. It's a common characteristic of gunslinger QBs. They're all like that.
