A funny thing happened on the way to the comments section of the Panthers vs. Falcons preview today

So I rolled out of bed around noon because it's Saturday, meandered downstairs, pet the cat, threw a plate of leftover london broil and garlic mashed potatoes in the microwave, mixed up some Lipton lemon iced tea, and kicked back to check on Panthers news. Same stuff on the Huddle really, SCP making funny jokes about Fua and Nakamura, another Bill Cowher thread, Stirs blindly calling people/inanimate objects "libs" in the Tinderbox. Par for the course.

Then I bounce on over to NFL.com. Turns out Javon Belcher was caught asleep at the wheel of his Bentley the night before his murder/suicide. Weird huh? I thought so. Anyway I clicked on an article about Wes Welker on the verge of catching 100 balls on the season for the fifth time in his career. Amazing what a general manager recognizing the value of the slot receiver can do for you. Hopefully we'll get someone like that. Anyway that's not what this is about. I clicked on the "Panthers versus Falcons" matchup at the top of the screen. Falcons predicted to win of course.

On a whim I scroll down to the bottom of the page and start reading the comments from comatose Falcons fans typing with their elbows about how the Panth-

wait what? what's that?

I'll refrain from a personal insult, but isn't that the guy who used to post borderline CP on here?

He's never not posted here. He's always had a user name. Before Slenderman it was Super_freak or whatever. He's had about a blue million user names.

    • Film Room Playlist _ NFL Pro — Mozilla Firefox 2024-11-25 10-20-11.mp4 🎯🎯🎯 There were a couple of "fans" yesterday saying that this wasn't a helmet-to-helmet shot... 👀 Looks like based on where Moore was and where the play ended, he'd have gotten maybe just a yard or two more. Chuba was downed at the KC 16 and Moore was on his way back to the QB, so the offense got what they could for the most part. After reviewing the all-22, Bryce made the right call here. Tremble was the hot and KC sent both LBs. He gets it out with a clear pocket but it's quickly collapsing. If there was a little more time it looked like AT came free at the end but whether or not Bryce would've been upright still is another story. Smart move to get the completion and keep the field goal in play to stay alive. George Karlaftis is about to get himself a big ole hug and Bryce heaves it to where David Moore is going. Trent McDuffie slipped just a step or two before this shot, but we can see the clear DPI here as he's wrapped around David Moore before knocking him over as the ball gets there.
    • I’m taking a TE early day 3 Ian Thomas and Tremble are FA.  We should have no desire to bring them back.   There’s more than enough film of ball bouncing off their hands or facemask.
    • Daniel Jones sometimes would sling it for 300 or 400 yards.  That's my stance.  We know what Bryce is.  If you consistently play any QB at this level, they largely are going to end up w/ some good days/games.  last time Mahomes was at BOA, Teddy Bridgwater threw for 300+ yards and a couple TDs and the Matt Rhule Panthers almost took him down.  We know what Bryce is.  Now we got people predictably falling into a predictable trap.
