What are the chances of getting Bill Cowher

Wait did you really say that you haven't heard that many users mention him on here lol?

It didn't say they haven't mentioned him, just that I personally haven't seen it, therefore have little insight on the subject, which was the purpose of this thread.

RGIII is 3-1 when attempting 23 passes or less.

Alex Smith is 6-0 over the last two seasons.

Big Ben 33-2 in his career on 23 attempts or less. One of those losses in overtime. Both losses by 3 or less.

End of discussion. The 49ers are using a similar formula, Great defense and taking care of the football. Alex Smith isn't exactly a world beater, but they win. Imagine what we could do with Cam and an attacking defense. JFC.....how many times this year did we say, "Just run the damn football." Making a first down on the ground at the end of the game, instead of punting it back to the opposing team in the closing minutes of the game. How many more games would we have won this year? 4 or 5? 7-5 looks alot better than 3-9. We could do far, far worse than Bill Cowher. He knows how to win and impose his will on other teams. Something this team has never had, even in 2003.

Exactly why I like the idea of cowher.

Understood.

I sure would like to see where Cam and the Panthers would be right now if defense was emphasized and Deangelo Williams and Jonathon Stewart carried the bulk of the load while Cam was aked to pass ~ 20 times per game the first couple years as Ben Rothlisberger was.

Learn how to win, carry more responsibility as warranted. Big Ben is one hellova crunch time QB at this point in his career. Cam should be able to do everything Rothlisberger does and run a 4.6 40 while doing it.

i don't want cam held back. i don't want this offense held back. if this team is going to go forward, it has to move forward.

we can't play the game the way we used to or really the way the steelers did when big ben was a rookie. you have to be able to put a lot of points on the board. if you don't, then you get left behind. passing just 20 times a game just isn't going to cut it anymore. nothing that you posted disputed that.

you can't learn how to win when your offense is playing a brand of offense that keeps you from getting the points on the board you need to win.

Cam Newton | 23 Pass Attempts or Less

6 Wins

0 Losses

Cam Newton | 24 Pass Attempts or More

3 Wins

19 Losses

My math might be off just slightly but your statement I quoted is incorrect.

i don't know because i'm not a math wizard or whatever, but i thought my math was still pretty good. 24>20. 23>20.

maybe i'm just not seeing things right, but i said in response to kevin greene that you have to be able to put a lot of points on the board...that passing just 20 times a game just isn't going to cut it.

i think it would be great to have defense that can shut down offenses to low scores, but you can't count on that. you HAVE to be able to put a lot of points on the board and that usually entails a lot of passing. that's not saying that you have to do it every week, esp. if your defense can handle that every week...but that just isn't something that you can count on every week.

i want an offense and esp. a HC that recognizes that and that recognizes that you have to be able to put up a lot of points every week. i want a HC that recognizes that the rules and the game is shifting towards a protection of the passing game making it easy to get down the field quickly using the pass and will be able to score quicker and more often. i want a HC that takes advantage of that rather than trying to be of the "old guard" that plays the game the same way it was played years ago.

for one thing, not scoring a lot or being able to puts a ton of pressure on the defense to control the game and you just can't and you esp. shouldn't do that.

make the defense suffocating, but make the offense prolific. THAT is the key to long term success in the changing world of football.
