Rivera identifies himself as the problem

Recommended Posts

When Ron Rivera notes how the Falcons have "confidence" to overcome adversity, he implies the Panthers don't have the same quality (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/12/07/3712739/injuries-could-speed-carolinas.html).

If confidence is lacking, it all starts with the poor coaching as the main culprit. After all, aren't the coaches responsible for ensuring the safety is in position in the Atlanta game? Aren't the coaches responsible for changing the defense when Chicago is consistently beating soft coverage to get into field goal range?

The coaching is so poor that I had doubts about the outcome of the Philadelphia even though the offense was taking a knee at the end of the game. Why? Because the coaches consistently find a way to destroy our confidence via poor decision-making. How could our players play with confidence when the coaches consistently belittle their hard work? It seems Ron Rivera is pointing the blame at himself and his poor coaching decisions if "confidence" is our biggest problem.

you're really going to blame that on the coaches?

a safety that does get deep enough and mis-plays the ball by mis-timing his jump........

is the coaches fault.

which coach exactly was at fault?

the one that had gamble rushing in on that play instead of...i don't know...covering a receiver?

Didn't it come out Gamble was playing hurt at the end?

Makes sense to use him as a blitzer if you think about it rather than covering deep routes

Well, to be fair, and I'm not defending Rivera (I think he's dreadful), 2 of our DBs including Nakamura were still in a position to make a play on the ball. Not much our coaches can do to prevent Nakamura from just missplaying it.

maybe. i don't know. it's not the first and only example of poor personnel and situational scheme decisions made by this coaching staff. seems like the whole year has been a mismanagement of personnel and the last two years has been nothing but examples of how not to manage the end of the game.

having nakamura on the field instead of martin was a big error of judgment.
